None of those that have been mentioned excited me as much the last Ex Spurs midfielder Alan Mullery and now Gus Poyet. This shows our intent and ambition for the future well done TB.

I agree with you there BG! We've had some good appointments over the years but there's allways been other off field problems lurking in the background that have taken the shine off them, This is the first time in years I feel genuinely excited that the club are moving forward both on and off the pitch. The good times are coming :albion1:

There have been exciting appointments but I've not been this excited since Micky Adams the first time round. (I was gutted when he was appointed the second time)

Brian Clough - that was incredible at the time. I was not really happy with Mullery, I was disappointed that Taylor left and certainly wasn't happy with Adams the second time round, I thought that was a terrible decision at the time. And I was a bit disillusioned with the Albion and all the financial problems to get really worked up about Brady.

But this is the real thing: this is a genuine football name, someone to excite us all.

I am excited every time a new Brighton Manager is announced, no more or no less than the previous one. The first thing i do tomorrow is buy the Argus and its like being a kid again on xmas morning. Having said that i do recall being especially excited with Mullery 2nd time round.
WE ARE BRIGHTON FROM THE SOUTH, good times are ahead

When Mullery came back in 1986 but I was too young to realise that people should never go back to a club where they have had previous success after a spell away. That was the big one for me at the time.

The Wilkins appointment scared the hell out of me, I just thought it would be another Jimmy Case or Hinshelwood scenario.

You're not wrong there, I thought he would be hopeless, didn't think he would be able to lead. However I am glad he proved me wrong

Absolutely, a man with no real management experience, who doesn't hold the full qualification, no money to spend, who calls his mate, a laughing stock at Spurs, making him assisstant manager.

Premiership here bha come.

I think they should come free to Albion fans. I feel a bit sorry for Gus. He is really being thrown in at the deep end with the tough games coming up. I worry that some fans on here think we are going to climb the league now.

As i see it he is here to build for next season, He has to sort out the squads attitude and ineptitude possibly bring in players and maybe next year we can have a push at promotion. I hope we give him a chance, longer than slade anyway even though i called for slades head as i thought he was a poor choice to begin with and only kept us up by the skin of his teeth and Owuso. He is a statement of intent like Mullery was, thats why i find it exciting.

It is all about opinions but that geezer is just doom & gloom

Actually, I think the difficult games coming up are a blessing. What would we have got from Soton, Leeds, Norwich and Charlton under Slade? With an new manager to impress, we might over-achieve in one or two of these ...

And as for "doesn't hold the full qualification," I can name a few managers who'd prefer to play golf rather than even think about taking the Pro Licence.
