Sleeping on the roof
My wife does the same on occasion which is strange for someone who professes to like 'builder's tea'. Water first for me all the way.

"If milk is poured into hot tea, individual drops separate from the bulk of the milk, and come into contact with the high temperatures of the tea for enough time for significant denaturation - degradation - to occur. This is much less likely to happen if hot water is added to the milk." - Dr Andrew Stapley, a chemical engineer from Loughborough University.

I know not everyone agrees. So how about I make my tea how I like it. And you can all make your tea how you like it.

Milk first, then water. Makes the perfect, strong, scum-free cuppa :drink:

Indeed, this is like the main point. I don't know how it does it, but it does indeed make for a scum free cuppa.

Maybe he needs to look at the degragation of the leaf and not the milk. Too many people in this world focusing on the fats in our lives...tea was originally drunk without milk at all I believe...

Bloody right, the milk should not get out focus as it is a secondary ingredient. After all the drink is call 'Tea' not 'Milk'. Right?.....Right?......come on who's with me...........

Black tea is nice, if you don't mind scum all over your teeth afterwards. But it's milk in first for the perfect cuppa, for me.

Of course the milk should go into the cup first. This discussion is academic really because Tea should be made in a pot and poured into a cup on top of the milk.
