I remember that rule change when i was playing. I was young lad at the time, but even then it seemed mental.

One of the better rule changes :)

On a tenuously related note, Tim Vickery was on the wireless yesterday talking about a recent 'playing out from the back' scenario, where the goalkeeper knocked the ball short to the defender, who assumed he wanted him to take the goal kick. Defender picked it up to place it on the line and got a penalty awarded against him because the opposition claimed the ball was in play!

Progress, eh?
