Despite live Tv, spent a chunk of my student grant to come down from the Midlands for that cracking game. Was stood behind the north goal when TC popped in the 2nd; possibly the best limbs ever at the Goldstone. A feeling only matched by spotting the Warwick Uni scally gobshite trudging out of the away end in the 89th minute.

I see a lot of similarities between 1984 and now. This would be a nice bit of history repeating
Not sure about that, we're in a lot better place now. Such a great day, there wasn't much live footy on TV in those days so it was a bit of novelty.

I remember there was a satelite dish in Newton Road beaming the coverage back.

i’m sorry… how about if i refer to my car as a horseless ‘carriage’ would that go some way to ease your disappointment?
Sorry about your misfortune with your ankle, and if I offended you, but I was making a tongue in comment about the old football chant being applicable in the circumstances - obviously I was wrong.

One of the best Goldstone games I went to, see me at the end jumping on Terry Connors back

That Guardian article links to the complete match on YouTube. Fantastic stuff. I’d forgotten how close together the goals were. Put in perspective for younger fans, I’d say that would have been like us seeing off Barcelona or Real Madrid now - and twice in a row! Maybe yours is the Anfield victory if it’s an ‘83 DVD?S

Somebody from nsc put together the 83 cup run and full day along with the 1984 win over Liverpool and sold it on here. It’s very good.

Proper 'limbs' in those days! When the ball was put through to Connor, the anticipation and excitement was immense - and it still comes across. I love it when two goals come along like that in such quick succession, we hadn't calmed down from the first one!

It was the second year on the bounce that we knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup wasn’t it?

Sub 20K crowd?
Looking up our results v Liverpool in the 80's they were as follows-
1979/80 1st top tier game H. Lost 1:4 - A lost 1:0
1980/81 A lost 4:1 - H drew 2:2
1981/82 H drew 3:3 - A won 0:1
1982/83 League A lost 3:1 - H drew 2:2 Cup A won 1:2
1984 Cup H won 2:0
1985 League Cup A lost 4:0. Why does no-one remember this game?
To sum up, omitting the last game
P 10 - W3 D3 L4 F15 A20

Incidently, we played them in the 1991 FA Cup drawing away 2:2 and playing the home game 4 days later, losing 2:3 AET. Attendance that day at the Goldstone, 14,392.
