The DDR. This video first got me, which would have scared the shit out of most first time travellers from West Germany to West Berlin:

I don't think people born these days would believe you if you told them it was really like this
Yes, my particular rabbit hole started there and ended up going into various East German TV clips (Aktuelel Kamera) from the 70s and 80s, which is boring but fascinating. Then onto escape attempts and East Berlin footage, then stuff by the arm chair historian who gives concise but a traditional western view of East Germany, I found an opposing view on a channel from a Yorkshire socialist called Socialist Swanny who basically claims the DDR was misunderstood. That's 16 minutes of my working day used up
Fascinating stuff. I always thought that road was completely fenced off from the rest of East Germany.
A world away from scanning a QR code and using your mobile to call for help.
I should have made more of this crucial factor!I have no idea why.
Chiropractic joint cracking videos. Stumbled on a while ago and it's a whole subgenre with its own "stars" with innovative ways of cracking people's spines and necks, and hugely dedicated fans (inevitably called "crack addicts") who fly around the world for treatment. Weirdly compelling viewing.
Always seems to have a sports theme with me. During the first lockdown I watched pretty much everything this guy did because of having done kayaking and the Beachy Head marathon in autumn 2019. He also makes and cooks stuff though - this is his most inspiring "thing" I think. Mad Australian alert.
And of course Copa 90
But the video "thing" I've enjoyed the most recently was just a TV series that I missed on telly and therefore caught up on iPlayer - the Gods of Snooker story about Alex Higgens, Steve Davis, Jimmy White and the Matchroom Mob. For a man of my age it was........................nos talgic.
