At the moment I'd have to be controversial and say a choc-chip BRIOCHE (with a bit of icing). Is it bread ? Is it cake ? Who cares. Just TEAR and SHARE.
My sister in law has just started a side buisness making these babies, had a great day last Sunday polishing off the biscuits, chocolate cake and YES getting the fingers in the mixing bowl.
Big Time, was'nt there some EU debate on their classification recently on if they were technically a cake or buiscuit for TAX or VAT purposes. I love the French versions called PIMMS they have about a dozen flavours.

Not sure about the difference between a cake and a biscuit, maybe something to do with whether it rises during cooking, can't be to do with whether it is hard or not because not all biscuits are hard.
