What's with the celery at away games

Happy days!

Both versions of the song listed on this thread have been sung while the celery was airbourne at The Goldstone, though I think the ruder of the two was the original.

We had some pretty wierd people following us in those post heady promotion days through the boring mike bailey and beyond years. I could well believe that it was far more likely to be the likes of Earnest & crew rather than the hard as nails Chelsea boys.

Hardly look cool on their CV would it?

Who sang it first? The almost universal story is that "Celery" originated at Stamford Bridge. Anyone know any different?

yep, a song started by the blues, and copied by many, including us ever since. I got nailed by the cops at Elland Road during leeds v chelsea some years ago for chucking celery, happy days...

First saw it at Bury in a dull as dishwater game in 1988. Only about 200 Albion fans in the away end, but they managed to get a fair old atmosphere going at half time.

We used to get searched by police at the north stand for celery. Full body search...funny as f*** really looking back!!
