Would a victory brought about by the scarf protest be down to The Sun? After all, if they hadn't had a step by step guide in their rag this week would any of us know how to wear a scarf properly?

Wow. Scarves.
Those Glazers must be quaking in their boots now.
Whereas chanting "we want Falmer" at Wycombe really was a kick in the teeth to all those people objecting back in Brighton.

Anyone want to show United fans how to break a crossbar during a game ? That might have a bit more of an impact.
And I suspect that sort of thing will come - sooner or later.

Well, the Falmer campaign was somewhat different to the outright fury which was directed at Archer and Bellotti. It had a completely different objective, and as fans we took a different approach (which amounted to a hell of a lot more than a few "we want Falmer chants", not that I need to tell you that).

If United fans were serious about wanting the Glazers out, then wearing a Norwich scarf will do f*** all. I doubt the Glazers even have a clue what its supposed to signify.

As we found ourselves, outright civil disorder is the only way to REALLY grab peoples attention and put a bit of pressure on. Everything else is just posturing.

This is the correct answer, but it takes a while to rally the troops. I suspect civil disorder may well occur there at some point. It's not as if all 74,000 of them are prawn sandwich munchers, despite what some on here would have us believe.

P.S. And one more thing: I'd take it further than "civil disorder" and suggest that the people responsible need to be made to feel physically worried for their personal safety. This is why those who went to prison threating to kill the twats on our own board will always have my grudging respect. They took "one for the team" in my opinion and deserve their place in the history of the club (despite MOANING at everything ever since. :lolol: )

Agree with your PS.

However, I sincerely doubt civil disorder will ever break out at OT, and I'm not putting that down to a "prawn sandwich" thing either. Realistically whats the worst that could happen to that club ? Finish outside the top 4 and not put up a decent challenge for trophies ? (as appears to be happening at Anfield). Thats a possibility in the coming seasons, particulatly once Taggert gobs out his last piece of gum. But I'm not sure that'd be enough to galvanise their fans beyond a few street marches and some unpleasant placards around the stadium. And maybe a few more Norwich scarves.

The stakes arn't high enough there. Unlike at the Albion in the 90's, Man Utd's very existance isn't under threat, at worst they might just have a few barren years trophy-wise. That won't be enough to move the masses to disorder IMO.

Actually the main problem at Man Utd is that there is always a massive waiting list for season tickets there. Not a situation to inspire people to "misbehave".

I gather ticket prices have already increased there. Perhaps if they REALLY started taking the piss with the prices, and re-named Old Trafford, yo might start seeing a bit of action ?

This is a fun season though isn't it. Pompey and Palace imploding, Liverpool lurching from one disaster to another, cracks starting to appear in the OT money machine. I just need Leeds to bollocks it up again this season and as long as we stay up, it'll have been a cracking year.

Yes, yes it is. Chelsea to f*** it up and hand the title to Arsenal, and Leeds cocking it up again would be top banana, and hopefully Bolton and West Ham will go down with Portsmouth. A stellar year on all fronts except the home one.

As I understand it, it's all about raising awareness. Although I imagine a few more are are delluded into thinking it'll make the Glazer's bugger off, which it won't.

When the yanks took over, a small group of fans f***ed off to support FC United in protest.

A few anti-Glazers remained, but the rest of their supporters ignored the wrong doings behind the scenes as they've had 3 league titles and a European Cup in the last few years.

Now, people are cottoning on to the fact that Glazer is shit, and are trying to win over the majority of the Old Trafford support to their plight. Not too surprised to see it co-inciding with the fact that things aren't that wonderful on the pitch this season (relatively, anyway).
Still, wearing a scarf is a way of getting the message across to fellow United fans, and fellow football fans, much like the Falmer for All t-shirts/car stickers people purchased a few years back.

Of course, it's United fans doing it, so they'll get criticised, obviously.

Bless them, they know they cannot boycott games because there will be few hundred thousand people ready to jump in their place so this is the closet they get to a protest.

in 700m debt but just spent upto £12m on a fulham player ???

A bond issue last week brought in £504M so they are only roughly £200M in debt now. There is a good return on these bonds as the interest being paid out next year (and in subsequent years) is £45M.
