Whats the worst injury you've seen in Park Football ??

POI - Who is Brett and what happened to him!?
Edited: Ok, it was Mendoza!

I saw a guy score a last minute winner and he got bundled. The tackle when he scored shattered his ankle and 10 people descending on him didn't help matters. I don't think he ever played again.

Playing snooker
We once got called out to a Sunday league park game. A guy had been trying to loop the nets over the cross bar before the game by standing on the goal line and jumping up. He got his wedding ring caught in a hook on the cross bar, and as he came down with all his body weight it virtually severed his finger at the knuckle

When we arrived he was stood on a beer crate, and in some distress. We used bolt croppers to cut the hook from the cross bar and left him with the ambulance service ...

A lad died in the 70's after playing for Steyning Grammar School. Apparently he sustained a cut on his knee during a game, carried on playing, but unfortunately the wound got muddy. He went home, complained of feeling unwell and went to bed early, during the night his parents called the doctor and had him admitted to hospital where he died a few hours later. It turned out that he had suffered an infection of his blood, caused by the mud on his cut knee.

The only reason I remembered this was that his parents donated a trophy to the school, in their sons' memory, to be awarded to the student who contributed most to football. The award was not necessarily to the best player, but was usually awarded to someone who played for the second eleven.

In the late 60's we had a lad at school, Gary Reeves, die of exactly the same injury. His blood also got an infection.

Way out west
I think that was him, couldn't remember the name and was a bit vague about the date, think he died from sceptecemia.

I can just remember his mum coming into the school on prize giving day and presenting the trophy to a lad who did a lot of work with the second eleven, the sort of bloke who chased up players and encouraged people to take part even if they weren't really that good.

Have seen quite a few breaks etc and the worst of these was when I thought the guys shinpad had come through his sock until someone pointed out that it was actually his bone.

Also saw a nasty cut - team mate did a sliding tackle and caught his thigh on a flint. The cut was so deep you could see right into the muscle on his leg.

Two horrible injuries whilst playing for my football team, one lad had his wrist stood on and completely broke it. Another lad went in for a slide challenge and his studs got stuck in the ground and the rest of his body continued. I was in goal at other end of pitch and still heard the screams of pain.

Ive seen that happen aswell, except i think it was my team mates stud on the other guys thigh.

It happened at Braypool i think.

It was one of my first Sunday league games and it made me feel well sick!

Also seen the obligitory broken legs, collar bone and I've knocked out a keeper whislt scoring my first ever gol in a proper match aged 9!

I remember it like it was yesterday. Windy day on the rugby field - the ball wouldn't standup so another guy in the team held it upright for the kicker. The kicker made contact with the guys head rather than the ball. It took his head clean off and it sailed between the posts from 50 yards. Brilliant kick.
