I remember being regularly scared watching films in the late Friday night TV slot in the 70s. Two that spring to mind are 'Fright' with psychopath Ian Bannen terrorising Susan George and Trilogy of Terror with the voodoo doll that came to life and attacked Karen Black.

As a child it was the child catcher also and I used to scare myself stupid watching Arthur C Clarke's World of Strange Powers.
As an adult I don't find horror films scary except for the first time I watched the first Paranormal Activity. The sequels are rubbish but the first one got me. I think it's the amount of time you spend looking at a scene where nothing happens and then all of a sudden something quick and creepy happens.

I jumped out of my skin in 6th Sense when the main boy goes to the bathroom at night and the dead girl walks past the camera but the film as a whole didn't scare me.

Don't Look Now is the only film that has ever kept me awake at night, but I don't really do horror films.

Same. I found Blair Withch genuinely disturbing after the even too (although this appears to bemuse others).

Why ask?
If you found it disturbing, isn't that enough? You need the comfort of finding out others find stuff dusturbing?
I just don't get it mate.
Do you have someone who visits you?

Your mom.. haha.

It used to be Candyman for me. Never been able to say it 3 times in the mirror. But that was eclipsed by Rec (spanish horror mockumentary).

The first time I watched The Descent I was petrified. I think it's a combo of claustrophia and the other stuff that did it for me.

Trainspotting. When the baby dies and the scene where it crawls along the ceiling.

Not in terms of content but the way Oliver Stone filmed Natural Born Killers makes me feel sick, almost unwatchable.

Pesci's demise at the end of Casino was a bit unsettling as well.

Repulsion by Roman Polanski - mind you I was an impressionable teenager obsessed with ************ and dreaming of unattainable women at the time but it certainly brought into focus the complexities and dangers of the female mind!!!

Threads, for sure. Apparently Reagan requested a private viewing and it had such an impact on him that it led to a less hostile and threatening approach to the USSR.

You can watch the whole movie here - https://vimeo.com/18781528

This. Not a "scary" movie in the conventional sense but incredibly disturbing and sickening. It's the only movie I've ever watched where I genuinely wish I hadn't afterwards. Actually made me pretty angry as well. There's no way the director and producers of that film can hide behind "artistic licence" there's no artistic reason or need to make a film like that.
