tracking back the family name was madras? researching the family tree looks like we did qiute a bit of fighjting and land snatching grandfather spent time charging around tibet on his horse killing a few locals as he went

Very common name it the IOW, very chavy apparently!

my surname means i am the servant of the local vicar, however in the midst of time one of my ancestors changed his name for some reason , but if his original name continued then i would be a " cave dweller "

Mine is Huguenot/French, I have no idea of the meaning and should try and find out. My ancestors fleed north to Bristol in the 18C and many still live in and around Someret. Another lot fleed south and produce very fine Red and Rose wines, highly recomend them.
