What's the oldest piece of 'technology' you still use?

Other than this PC, which I doubt has that much time left.
The only other thing I can think of, is an old cheap portable am/fm radio, which I use daily, as I refuse to join the digital/I-pod era.

we have a radio 40 years old plus, still provides mellow sounds........................

I'm guessing you mean electrical technology? In which case I'd say it's the light switch. Otherwise I'd say the sabre tooth tiger thigh bone I use to fight off intruders.

When I went away to college in 1989, I bought a small portable TV, and a [massive, by today's standards] Sony hi-fi.

The hi-fi still lives on because it has a working turntable, but I think we will chuck it soon, because it takes up way too much space for what it does.

The TV is still going strong, but has been relegated to the spare room for use with the boys' playstation.

mp3 player - got it hooked to the aux on my stereo in my bedroom. It's about 4 years old. One of the 1st 20gb ones on the market - basically a hard drive with a linux kernel.

Ah, the old XD 670 a trusty companion on many a mission. Still use it even though the battery pack is a bit bulky for a finger mounted blaster gun.

Yes, I have since been issued a mind vaporiser. it is quite bulky, about the size of a PC but it only requires that you post a minimum of 15 times a day on NSC and your mind is instantly vaporised. marvelous.

A Sony MiniDisc player with coloured discs. Far better than all that mp3 rubbish. I have a hi-fi with it in aswell. Looked well cool back in 2000! Shame it all never took off. I spent so much time labelling the tracks...

My phone is at least 4 years old and still going.

I've got two MD walkmans (or should that Walkmen?!?) and an MD seperates deck. Don't use them now though, as my MP3 personal stereo is much smaller, and doesn't skip.

And they eat batteries too. I've heard that a lot of 'experts' regard the MD as superior for their sound quality and safer storage of tracks.

That's an odd point, yes I did mean electrical, I guess I just bracketted new technology & electricity together.
I was then going to say what isn't invented these days without such input but that's obviously just stupid, & Franks head will explode.

Anyway we do still have a video, to watch our wedding on, and a 'del-boy' video camera, stuck in the loft unused and unloved.

So how wasteful are we? My parents weren't skinflints but we deffo had more 'old' stuff, even for then, (1970-80's) in the house when I was growing up, than now.
