I have been a bit of a vinyl junkie in my time and quality control went out the window when second-hand 7 inch singles got really cheap. You also tend to get a bit of a reputation and several people have generously given me their record collections when they got rid of their turntables. I was extremely grateful for the copy of The Lemonheads' Different Drum and the white label Stone Roses 12"s, but less so for the friend who passed on her daughter's collection of Bros singles. I couldn't dump them, because, although they are terrible, they are still singles.

I also have records by a lot of the people mentioned on here. I have got Pyromania and records by most of the disgraced seventies stars, Phil Collins, Shakey, etc etc.

I had a habit of picking up football related singles, but have never sunk as low as Man Utd or Palace (although I do have the original of Tottenham supporting Dave Clark's 'Glad All Over'.) The same friend who gave me the Stone Roses picked up a couple of fantastic finds at boot fairs and has gifted me a copy of the 1970 England World Cup Squad album in a round sleeve. (This features a duet between Alan Ball and Emlyn Hughes that only dogs can hear.) After this he felt that he had to buy and give me 'Gary Player Sings' as it was also in a round sleeve mocked up like a golf ball.

I have also collected a fair few TV theme singles. I'm happy with the copies of the themes from Taxi, Cheers, The Likely Lads, Hill Street Blues, The Big Match, Monkey and The Water Margin. Less keen to admit that I also have Howards Way and the Theme from The Thorn Birds.

Long Haired Lover From Liverpool - Little Jimmy Osmond.

I don't know how I have this, but it's always been there. Maybe I bought it? Surely not?

Shit. I may never post again.

Don't quite understand how you can dislike Gong when your avatar is a Hawkwind Album Cover?
I can only surmise that your brain must have turned to French cheese if you can compare the might of Space Ritual featuring Lemmy's magnificence and the rhythmic drumming to that offensive offering that lurks hidden in my record collection. Hang your head in shame sir.

Most Hawkwind Fans, in my experience, were also partial to Gong? Aside from anything else Tim Blake from Gong ended up playing with Hawkwind!

One of those threads where you think 'this could be interesting' but it's not. It's just a list of bands and albums. Yawnsville, USA!

On the Border
Based on recent convictions and prison sentences it would be Gary Glitter's - Hello Hello I'm back again. But on this basis as it was sampled by Oasis does this make Whats the story morning glory album embarrassing also?

Gong - Camembert Electrique. A truly awful acid trip style album which was about 99p at the time.

Another proud owner of that album. I suspect there are far more embarrassing things in that collection if you dig deep enough and you're honest

I had Pyromania and really liked it at the time. Think my mum threw it away when I left home though. I'm a bit embarrassed about a compilation album I have - "Technohedz". Having said that, it's got a few crackers on it. My wife is always rude about my album "Love Songs of Smokie Robinson and Marvin Gaye", describing it as "an album for girls" - that cuts deep. Probably my worst one is the first single I ever bought: Lay Your Love On Me by Racey.

Nothing wrong with Technohedz, if you want a real embarrassing Rave type album then nothing beats this....

Some might consider my vinyl copy of The Carpenters' Greatest Hits Vol 2 embarrassing. I wouldn't - a number of songs are works of genius and anyone who can't get stirred by the guitar solo on Goodbye To Love is made of cardboard.

Another proud owner of Pyromania here. The most embarrassing album I have in my collection is "Escape from Television" by Jan Hammer. It's basically the theme tune and incidental music from Miami Vice. I have no idea why I bought it as its soothing synths stand far apart from the rock and metal that make up the rest of my collection.

God you must be my ex-wife, I don't like it full stop, for the record Wings were pretty crap although they had an ex Beatle.
