Whats the MINIMUM coin curency you would STOOP to pick up off the floor ?

When my kids were little, not yet quite teens, and they dropped a one or two pence coin they'd just walk on by. Trying to instil a wee bit of sense of the value of money into them I'd say 'Oi! Pick that up! A poor person would be grateful for that!'. To which the little gits always replied 'Well they can have it then!'. I spent YEARS trying to come up with a suitable comeback line, but never did find one. Suppose if I'd thought about it, 'Good point, well made' would have been about the best I'd have been able to muster

I'm clearly in a very small minority here. Unless I dropped it i don't really think i'd bother to pick up any coin, would deffo pick up notes though. I'm certainly far from rich but my reasons for not picking coins up seems to have been vindicated by this thread...... you buggers get far more excited about it than me so you may as well have it!

I'd say it depends how busy it is; if there's lots of people around, then nothing less than a 20p, but if I'm in college or there's no-one around, then maybe as little as a 2p.

5p, the 20p bogs at Portsmouth and Southsea have caught me out, and i've had to pay 50p rather than 15p. so just to make up the price of a piss, 5p. Even spending a penny has f***ing gone up. wanky recession.

Coppers I don't pick up,

I have the nasty habit of biting my nails so can't really pick anything up smaller than a 10p,

But if I drop, say anything 20p sized or smaller at a checkout I leave it unless I need it, nothing worse than looking like a twat trying to pick it back up and having everyone behind tutting cos I'm holding the queue up.

20p, although my brother picks up every coin he finds and keeps it in a tin and cashes it in once a year, every year its in excess of £50

If this is true its almost worth considering throwing in the Mortgage Broking job and concentrating on this full time. I would stoop for anything silver, 5p upwards.

I stooped to pick up 20p at an Arctic Monkeys gig on Sunday. I was near the front and it was absolutely RAMMED.

Once I'd stooped with my back straining I was STRANDED at ankle level but I stuck to my principles and retrieved it from the sticky floor.



Then I only went and lost it.

everyone likes a 20p coin surely? they're so useful

if you're scrambling around for change to get a pint of milk or whatever......you find some 10p's, maybe a couple of 5's (who the f*** uses 5p coins?!), so you're struggling until you come across the scavengers DREAM.......the holy grail of cheapness.......the 20p coin

then you're sorted and you can drink coffee

My wife is INCREDIBLY lucky at this game. She constantly notices 20ps, 50ps and £1s, although she is shorter than me so is perhaps a bit more in tune with the streets.

She has also found a fiver on two separate occasions, and a TWENTY POUND NOTE.

Writing it all out, I'm starting to wonder whether she is a petty thief.
