Sep 1980...set off in mates car from Sussex to Liverpool.( in plenty of time ! )20 miles up the road the car was playing up and the driver was all for heading home. The other 3 of us persuaded him to carry on ( big mistake ! )
Sat motionless on M6 for over two hours after a kindly oil tanker decided to turn over. Had conversations with Everton fans trying to get south to Coventry..they scored 3 times in the first 15 mins and we could hear all the cries of anguish from their cars as the goals went in.
Eventually got to Anfield at half time...amazed bynumber of youngsters listening outside...asked one the score and he replied " you're one down mate and you're gonna get hammered "
He was right...supersub David Fairclough ran us ragged and we lost 4-1.

We got stuck in that ...broke down on the way home ..listened to Alan Minter losing to Marvin Hagler while waiting to be towed home

Went to a Friday night game at Scarborough a few years back with Bozza and Papa Lazarou. Arrived at half-time with Albion leading 1-0, but we ended up losing 2-1. Having not seen an away for months, we got blamed for the defeat...
