[Travel] What’s the definition of “a full matchday service”

The club are laying on buses / coaches.

Not sure what the normal matchday train usage is from Brighton/Lewes to/from Falmer, but it's a pretty safe bet that 1 train = a minimum of 10 buses. Even 3 trains an hour in either direction results in major inconvenience to users. How on earth are buses going to cope?

This is no reflection on the club BTW. They're patently doing their damnedest to alleviate the situation. All down to the remorseless demands of Sky and the limitations of our ever-crappy rail network.

ie: shuttle buses from Lewes to Falmer and back, and extra Brighton car parks/P&R.

That link for some reason doesn't mention the shuttle bus service from Brighton station which will obviously be of interest to a lot of people. I checked the programme from yesterday and it is listed there.

It worked ok when the club have done it before in the middle of Southern's peak strike disruption about 2 years ago.

Seem to recall the last (first?) time we had a Boxing Day fixture at the Amex, there was a ten minute frequency train shuttle that was at the time actually superior to the normal matchday train service. Tho that was - if memory serves - a kick off time earlier in the day.

Sky is irrelevant here. The transport situation wouldn't be any different if the kick-off was 3.00 on Boxing Day.

Sobvious, innit. Full means full.






No spare seats, hardly room to stand and breathe at the same time, no chance to get to the toilet, full, bloody full, packed, rammed in ..... what's so hard to understand about a 'full' matchday service?

Once again Southern Fail strike with a 4 carriage train from Hastings, meaning that it arrived in Eastbourne almost full and has already left Hampden Park passengers disappointedly waiting on the platform. Up until last week, Southern sent 8 carriage trains, why the change?
