Was going to post this yesterday when it came up in the car. Incredible that John McGeoch simply copied John McKay when he replaced him in the Banshees. McKay's guitar sound and style were simple but also unique and ground breaking. This track is as dramatic now as it was when I first heard it in the late 70s.

There were two versions of it that featured in Our Ladies, which I watched yesterday, and both were great, but neither sounded like the original, one was I think the December one I posted above (a slower melodic version) and one was closer to the original upbeat pop/rock version but sounded like it had more modern production and more feminine vocals.

I saw the original Big Country do it live in Vancouver in around 84, and I saw Bruce Watson and Dead Men Walking do a bittersweet version of it with Mike Peters on vocals in Folkestone in the early noughties. :bowdown:
