One of my all time favourite live performances.
Not cheery, but beautiful, and bitterly humourous. David Berman shuffled off before the pandemic, and would probably hope we consider him lucky. As he said on another song on the Purple Mountains album:
When the dying's finally done and the suffering subsides
All the suffering gets done by the ones we leave behind
So long to David Berman - a tortured soul, but very gifted lyricist and poet.
