Smoked salmon pref Scottish with a squeeze of lemon and cucumber
A decent mature cheddar with a quality pickle ( not branston ! )
Egg mayo ( go easy on the mayo ) with a dash of dill
Poached salmon with watercress ( expensive option but classy )

Blimey, where have you been playing cricket? The Duke of Westminster's estate?
Those of us who play in more humble surroundings know that the real answer is egg or cheese and cucumber (although tuna seems to be the most popular option - not that I eat it myself)
Big no to gammon or cheese and onion or meat paste ! All are with the greatest of respect very downmarket choices and not acceptable for a good quality cricket match sandwich .
Most importantly use very fresh bread and only put it out ready for eating a max of 15 mins before or the sandwiches will start to dry out .
Some acceptable choices .

Vegan option?
Egg got to be egg
It’s all in the name obviously.....
Liver sausage and cucumber. Don’t forget to cut diagonally.
In the 80s I played for a while for a team from the London Trinidad community. The families would prepare chicken roti for tea; I would always recommend that.
