The lovely, gorgeous Ruth Wilson returns in what's described as a “gothic thriller” BBC One series The Woman In The Wall.

The six-part series also Daryl McCormack, and the BBC says it examines examines the legacy of one of Ireland’s most shocking scandals – the institutions known as The Magdalene Laundries.

Lorna Brady (Wilson) is a woman from the small, fictional Irish town of Kilkinure who wakes one morning to find a corpse in her house. Chillingly, Lorna has no idea who the dead woman is, or if she herself might be responsible for the apparent murder. That’s because Lorna has long suffered from extreme bouts of sleepwalking ever since she was ripped from her life at the age of 15 and incarcerated in a convent. There, Lorna gave birth to her daughter Agnes, who was cruelly taken from her and whose fate Lorna has never known.

Unluckily for Lorna, Detective Colman Akande (McCormack) is now also on her tail, for a crime seemingly unrelated to the body she has discovered in her house. The ambitious Colman quickly rose through the ranks of the Garda Síochána thanks to his natural aptitude. His scathing wit hides a quiet sadness, and when he meets Lorna Brady, he finds himself forced to confront his own haunting secrets.

As Colman searches for a murderer and Lorna searches for her daughter, their paths collide in ways they could never have anticipated. Lorna’s search for Agnes will take her deep into her own past and to the heart of Kilkinure’s darkest secrets, as she and Colman seek the answers they each so desperately need.

Brilliant, along with The Rise of the Nazis series 4 telling how the scumbags tried escaping after the end of the war...

I agree, the series was a little wishy-washy. Lacked the focus and intensity of the film.

Dark Hearts possibly next up from France on Beeb 4.

The six-part series stars Marie Dompnier (Witnesses), Thierry Godard (Spiral), and Nicolas Duvauchelle (Braquo). Dark Hearts is set in Iraq on the eve of the battle for Mosul in October 2016, the series centres around an elite French Special Forces unit tasked with extracting the daughter and grandchildren of a high-ranking ISIS leader in order to gain vital information from him about an imminent terrorist threat in the region.

Scheduled to air on Saturday 21st October but with what's happening in the world right now there may well be a schedule change.

The BBC has acquired the Irish crime drama Kin, an eight-part series that stars like likes of Clare Dunne, Charlie Cox, Aidan Gillen, Ciarán Hinds, Sam Keeley, Emmett J. Scanlan, Maria Doyle Kennedy and newcomer Yasmin Seky.

It tells the story of how when a boy is killed and his family embarks on a gangland war with an international cartel: a war that is impossible to win. The Kinsellas are a local crime family, while the Cunningham cartel is a vast global organisation. It is David and Goliath. Out-numbered, out-financed and out-gunned, the Kinsellas find themselves holed up in their Dublin stronghold while their businesses fail, and family members and associates are picked off. But they have something the cartel does not: the unbreakable bonds of blood and family. They are kin.

I've seen it, very good.

Also seen it and agree it’s pretty decent. Series two is better than series one.

If you enjoyed it look up another Irish crime series called Love/Hate. Quite a few years old now but excellent.

I've seen it, very good.

I am on episode three. Highly recommended watch more swearing than Lewis Dunk but shamefully no red cards...the odd killing granted but no two match suspensions tsk tsk
