The BBC has confirmed the transmission date for it’s new, six-part thriller, Nightsleeper.

The series tells the story of a train that is ‘hackjacked’ while travelling from Glasgow to London, and suddenly finds itself on an uncertain journey with an even less certain destination.

Part fast-moving heart-in-the-mouth action-adventure and part twisty-turny whodunnit detective story, it’s a roller coaster ride set across a single night where no-one is ever quite who they seem. Leading the fight are Joe Roag (Joe Cole), an off-duty police officer who is a passenger on the train, and Abby Aysgarth (Alexandra Roach), the acting technical director at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). To stop the train, they’ll have to work out exactly who’s behind this.

But are they fighting a hostile state, a terrorist organisation, or organised crime? Who is the self-styled ‘Driver’ who seems to be one step ahead of their every solution?

Aside from Cole and Roach, look out for Alex Ferns, Sharon Small, James Cosmo, David Threlfall, Daniel Cahill, Lois Chimimba, Gabriel Howell, Katie Leung, Leah MacRae, Ruth Madeley, Adam Mitchell, Pamela Nomvete, Scott Reid, Sharon Rooney and Parth Thakerar.

It all starts on Sunday 15th September.

Those Who Kill .....the always entertaining Danish police procedural is on its way back for a fourth series.

Premiering on Amazon Prime Video in Denmark on 27th September, this new story sees ace profiler Louise Bergstein (Natalie Madueño) and Frederik Havgaard (Simon Sears) assigned to the case of the brutal execution of a young gang member in Copenhagen who had just been released. The murder triggers a spectacular mystery that stretches across Øresund and examines when criminals have actually served their punishment and whether a person’s pursuit of justice can go too far.

Previous series have been on the Beeb so 🤞

Brilliant - love her - love it sorry😊

Joining Mitchell in the ‘case-of-the-week’ series is Anna Maxwell Martin, as Lucy Betts-Taylor, John’s sister-in-law and wife of his missing brother James; Dipo Ola as DI Russell Carter, Gerran Howell as DC Simon Evans, Izuka Hoyle as DS Alice Finch, Dylan Hughes as Henry Betts-Taylor, Dorothy Atkinson as DCS Carol Shaw, Sophie Willan as Holly Pinder, and Ralph Ineson as Chief Constable Ziegler.
He was a copper in The Jetty too, I keep wondering whether he's going to throw a kettle over a pub

The 2002 two part drama "The Project" about New Labour's "dirty tricks" is to become available again on 16th September on iplayer and BBC4.

It's been buried for 20 years and not been available since. It apparently incurred the wrath of Alistair Campbell at the time and he was putting a lot of pressure on people to try and prevent it from being produced.

A somewhat grainy version is available on youtube

It’s always big news when Jimmy McGovern writes a new drama. The Cracker and Time scribed is rightly regarded as one of the best in the business, and is unafraid to tackle hard-hitting subjects.

Now, the BBC has announced that he has written a new single-episode, as-yet-untitled story that will explore the impact of grooming and sexual abuse on one family.

Set and filmed in Liverpool, the fictional drama centres around the Mitchell family who are dealing with the devastating aftermath of an act of abuse, and the knowledge that it was perpetrated by a member of their own family who, after serving his sentence, has just been released from prison.

Anna Friel, Anna Maxwell Martin, David Threlfall and Mark Womack make up the case. Further casting will be announced in due course, the BBC says.

Upcoming BBC One series Ludwig is described as a “comedy drama”.

David Mitchell stars as reclusive puzzle-setter, John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor who sees his life of solitude turned upside down when his identical twin brother, James, disappears without a trace. In a quest to track James down, Ludwig assumes his brother’s identity, but by taking over every aspect of James’s life, Ludwig is forced to confront his own. Unlike Ludwig, James is no hermit; he’s a family man and a highly respected DCI within Cambridge’s busy Major Investigations Team.

These are big shoes to fill for anyone, but for Ludwig playing dad to a ready-made family proves every bit as challenging as tackling the grisliest of crime scenes. However, Ludwig does have one big advantage – his ability to see the world in puzzle form. John may be a master of all things cryptic, but can he crack the biggest puzzle of his life?

Guest stars in the series include national treasures Derek Jacobi and Felicity Kendal, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Karl Pilkington, Allan Mustafa, Paul Chahidi, and Hammed Animashaun.

Watched this last night. I thought it was poor - flakey plot and poor production. It might improve but I'm not holding my breath.

Might be unfair to compare with the magnificent Slow Horses but I will anyway. One is a slick thriller with a stellar cast, and the other isn't.

Looks like no-one has mentioned the new series of Sherwood. It's excellent and very tense, not quite as good as series one, but that was extraordinary. We've still got the final episode to go, so no spoilers please.

Always surprises me that there's a decent selection of films on iPlayer.

Mentioned the brilliant Aftersun on another thread recently, and it's currently on there. One of the best films I've seen for years - and one you are sure to think about long after you've watched it.

The first series was excellent.
Watched the first series of Colin From Accounts over the last week and thought it was brilliant.
The episode with all her friends in the pub was a tough watch though.
I'm not sure if it says more about the writing or working for the NHS that most of the 29/30 year old doctors I know are much closer in vibe to Gordon than Ash (i.e. nearly burnt out and with houses full of bizarre accoutrements associated with slightly mad hobbies).

I watched that too, pretty good. It all started with a flash!
