Brighton Mod

Its All Too Beautiful
So you don't think that a kid from Brighton that we spotted some time ago and signed-up has chosen now to sign for Charlton is a cause for concern? If we let him go then fine, but if he left because he didn't like the way he was being treated (and this 'played out of position' could be what he was told to say) then I am concerned. As for the age, I would say that's exactly the age we should be targeting to bring them in to the academy.

All clubs will identify young players and bring them into various academies and junior teams. But the turnover is huge and there is no guarantee with any youngster that he will be what a club is looking for. This for me is a non story.

Anyone else remember that young goalkeeper who left the Albion for Palace a few years back and loads of people were getting in a flap about it? Palace fans in turn were announcing it as something of a coup (even though they were in the Championship and we were probably scuffing around at the arse end of the third or fourth tier at the time).

His career turned out to be so stellar that I can't actually remember his name :lolol:

There is something a bit odd about this (Charlton) story appearing in the local paper though. Why has this particular one made the Argus? "Kids sign for football team": this happens all the time. At nine and eleven they're imminently disposable, harsh though that may sound. So how on earth have the Argus written a story about it? Is Dad trying to make some kind of deal about it? That itself would make me suspect their chances of making it are slim (or, even slimmer than they already are).
