Whatever you think about the demise of Gus at the Albion

What you on about? I don't have "bias" towards Gus, I rated him as a manager and I'm sad that it didn't work out, but I have no lasting loyalty to him, so I don't know really what you're on about.

13th most shots is clearly miles away from most people, who said we were ULTRA negative. Clearly, they're talking bollocks.

I wouldn't say we were ULTRA negative (except in certain games, think Bristol City away), but we certainly drew too many games that we had the potential to win (or lose) had we gone for it a bit more. There were certain games you knew that Gus was happy with a draw, which was frustrating for many. We also sometimes tried to defend a lead when going ahead, instead of trying to score another goal to finish the game off. It is also well known that Gus prefers a 1-0 win to a 3-2 win, for example. Under Oscar Garcia, I think (and hope) we will go for it a bit more. Under Gus, we were more negative than I would have liked.

In terms of your bias, I'm not talking just about Gus. When I read your posts you opinions do not come across as very objective.

If Barnes had not been sent off do you think we could have made auto? Didn't we have that really shit run of a couple of away games where we didn't even bother shooting when Barnes was suspended? Maybe I made that up?

Barnes haters please don't respond to the question btw...thanks

Last season was unquestionably a SUCCESS. We finished 4th. I find it bizarre how so many try to rewrite history and make out last season was anything other than a very good season.

Regarding objectivity; this is a place for opinions. I always try to back up my argument with evidence and logic, unlike many on here who simply base it on pre-conceived bias.

The man, whilst being flamboyant and some say selfish, was the perfect manager for us at the time. When we were rebuilding we needed an identity. Gus brought in a philosophy and style of play that was attractive and effective. He was often criticised for not changing his style. But that was the style that has got us to where we are.

It didn't end well, Gus got impatient and he was no longer the manager we needed. We have our identity now, keeping Gus became less important. We no longer need a such a head strong character to represent the club.

We should not forget what he did for us though. Joined the club at a low point, brought in confidence, stability and style. If he achieves his potential as a manager he will reach continental level competition. Clubs grow slower than managers, whilst the continuity is there we are going to grow.

I don't want to get carried away with Oscar yet. But I have confidence the club makes good decisions.

Bristol City away was a disaster for several reasons. It was a place where Barnes always has a point to prove (he did by getting the winning goal the prev season) but he was taken ill just before the game. CMS then ruptured his achilles during the game. It could be argued that after losing two strikers in a couple of hours, a draw was ok, even if it was dire to watch. Bristol had also managed a mini revival by beating other teams visiting them and were on an unbeaten run. Things are never as black & white as fans like to think.
