was this during the Plymouth match?
No, I was 23 all the way through that Plymouth match (assuming it was in December).

I was born at lunchtime* so I normally change ages halfway through eating something.

*not lunchtime today

Of course not Crabbers, thats absolutely impossible and obviously would never happen.

I don't understand this last post.

But I agree with the sentiment - its time to draw a line under this thread now, because its just got stupid. And I take full responsibility.

Sorry everyone.

Nope, it was a Div 2 game, Saturday before Christmas in 1994. It was just after Shilton had admitted he was skint due to gambling. They had that England U21 keeper in goal (who later died in a motorbike accident). I believe Brady brought Stuart Myall in for his first start in god knows how long and played him as a holding midfielder. Bob the Cod got 2, one from 45 yards and Akinbyi(sp) got the other and did somersaults as part of his celebration. We were on the open terrace behind the goal and it rained all game. I think there were about 150 of us there. We got kept in afterwards as the locals were waiting in the park, so we were escorted via the mainstand and let out at the other end of the ground.

Oh and the fatty taxman got locked in the ground, as he went for a dump and they let us all out.

I was at that game too. I seem to remember it being the beginning of the end for Nogan who missed an loads of sitters including an open goal from about a yard.

I remember Codners winner against Rotherham when he had just come out and celebrated like hell that 1-0 away win with some big lass who ran around the near empty stand tits going in all directions!Last year i saw Lewes V Banstead we lost 6-1!!!and Codner played in that and he didnt move a inch but was still hero worshipped after! In the bar we chatted for about 20 minutes and i did say why are you playing here infront of 60 people he said it was just a bit of fun and he had outside footie interests that he was exploring.I always liked him and thought he was better than Minton whom some loved!

When Codner decided to play well...which he was more than capable of, the whole team seemed to play well. The home playoff leg against Millscum was a prime example and the bloke was simply superb.
Unfortunatly, most of the time he was a lazy **** as was that tosser Wendy Wilkins who played alongside him.

Bring back the genius :drink:

Robert Codner now I used to work with a guy called Jackson (who moved to Malaysia soon after my MD got done for imbezzlment)
any way this guy was some how a mate of Codner and as Jacko new I was a Brighton fan (we worked in the city) he used to take me to away games with him and Codner used to drive back with us , Robert was a strange lonely type who disliked and was disliked my his team mates he also used to ask some strange questions and was always asking me things about Brighton and Hove and its characters like the infamous famillies .......good player though.

Another player who didn't acheive his full potential. I remember a game at the Goldstone (? v Wrexham?) where he absolutely dominated the game from midfield for 88 minutes. Totally in charge, it seemed like he was involved in everything. Far and away his best game in the stripes - but then he went and got himself sent off a couple of minutes before the end!

But a good player on his day; I don't think we ever saw the best of him though (I'm not sure anbody ever did!)

when we only took about 150 fans away.

Funny that, UB. I went to Swansea in 1999 as a reward for having done my first university essay. It was one of those games that Swansea used to play on a Friday when the rugby was on a Saturday. We took nearly 700 that night. It was just after Jeff Wood had taken over after Brian Horton went to Port Vale. Ross Johnson scored twice for the Albion after Walton had made a complete mess of a 25 yard effort from a Swansea player and they had scored another and nearly scored the winner with a piledriver. I gave a bloke I met at the game a lift to Cardiff and he said he had been to the previous season's game and we had only taken 80 along for that game. Two weeks later we went to Southend and sold out the away end. I think it was about this time that the away attendances really took off and it was before Mickey Adams took over and we still had a rather poor team. Can you remember why this would have been? (the rise in away attendances).
