[Albion] Whatever Happened To Albion RESPONSE STEWARDS?

Yes, but when misbehaviour becomes criminal acts, that's when the police should do their job; that's why they have all their riot gear, truncheons, etc. It's not the stewards' job. Besides, stewards don't have the power of arrest.

I agree, which is why I was questioning the OP's post. It wasn't misbehaviour, it was already criminal acts at that point.

This has all been done to death now. Who started it, who's to blame, who should have responded, blah! blah! Can we please move on and concentrate on the Liverpool game - the next game against the scum isn't until April we can regurgitate this then.

Exactly this. Dull and done to death.

So let them get away with doing what they like then worry about it later? I think that's just about asking for it, the stewards that were there should never have been in that situation, that has to be down to the police/club's miscalculation they need to learn from this.

Or what, make it more dangerous and more likely some innocent bystander gets hurt by wading in to an uncontrolled environment, hampered by plastic seats and a large crowd to try to grab individuals and take them out? You think that they will go quietly, that their mates wont try to stop the stewards removing their mates either, making it harder and more dangerous again?

How do they know that they have also got the right ones (who rushed the gate, who smuggled in fireworks and who was letting off fireworks - which could have been a lot of people to try to find and remove)

Add in that some reportedly had knives and knuckledusters on them, and you really want to put people in close proximity to that threat

People were put in close proximity to that threat - but it wasn't the people who are supposed to be trained and equipped to deal with it.

Police and club need seriously holding to account for any cup tie repetition of the league fixture.

Police: Don't take the soft option of coralling harmless ticket holders and escorting them back to the station. There's supposed to be 'police intelligence'. Use it. Target the feral criminals.

Club: Don't take the cheap option of using minimum wage stewards, whether ours or theirs, who just look the other way at the faintest whiff of trouble.

Both: Don't neglect your duty of care to people in the stadium while they're actually in the stadium. CCTV is not a substitute for your duty of care.

In short: stop acting like country bumpkin clueless ****s
