What would be your starting 11 for Saturday?

Assuming Bridge and Vicente are out and (I think) all others are fit.

Mine for what it's worth (and I know I'm a bit of a crap tactician)

Kucszczak
Painter (I worry about this position. This is our weak spot)
Greer
AEA
Bruno
Orlandi
Hammond
Bridcutt
Buckley
Hoskins
Dobbie

The two positions I could quite easily be persuaded to swap are Crofts in for Hammond although I have a feeling in my waters that this is going to be Hammond's match of the season and CMS in for Dobbie. I'm not his biggest fan but when he's on fire CMS is unplayable. 2 from those 4 on the bench with Spanish Dave, Dunk and Calderon.

Assuming Bridge is not going to make it, I'd go with tonight's starting 11 except CMS for Hoskins, and El-Abd for Dunk. Despite him having a pretty good game tonight, if Bridge is fit, then I'd replace Painter

I think Ashley Barnes brings very little to the table when playing at home. However, I wouldn't be surprised (or even annoyed) if he started on Saturday. Painter is a weak defender and will need help against a tricky Zaha.
Playing a more defensive set up away from home to the Leagues second placed team is nothing to be embarrassed about. I'd take a point and if that means starting Barnes, hell, lets do it.

There is no point in thinking we'll be set up in any way other than defensively for the visit to the team in second, with a lightening quick forward in their ranks, especially if Bridge isn't fit.

It has to be 4-5-1, and seeing as Dobbie gets so frustrated in a withdrawn role, he is in direct competition for a starting spot with CMS. In fact, this is the only reason Barnes gets in for me - he is happier playing behind the front man/men, as neither a midfield holding player nor a striker. I agree with GingerBeerMan, for all his faults he is still able to link play pretty well away from home. So for me, Hoskins, Dobbie and CMS are competing for the sole striker position. I'd give CMS the nod as otherwise we are simply not giving their defenders enough to think about, and his pace will discourage their fullbacks from pushing up when they have corners/freekicks etc.

I'd prefer to see Orlandi for Crofts but get a feeling we'll set up more to try and crowd them out .... I'm beginning to think a point would be OK :annoyed: If Bridge were playing I'd probably sacrifice Barnes for Dobbie

Not keen on this lot tbh ... would rather go for it a bit more but the thought of getting torn up stops me being more ambitious

One up front , Dobbie in middle as a more midfield role , attacking on breaks behind CMS , Buckley on left midfield playing more midfield minded but attacking on the break also with a bit of speed to help Painter against Zaha . May change at half time depending on score.

This is EXACTLY the team that I was going to suggest, assuming that Bridge is not fit. The only question for me was CMS or Hoskins? I, like you, plumped for CMS.

Bruno - Greer - El Abd - Bridge (if fit)

Hammond - Bridcutt (these guys need to sit all game and breakup play)

Buckley - CMS - Hoskins - Orlandi (these 4 need to float everywhere - more orlandi floating into the middle to create though, but i want hoskins up top not playing left wing)

You wouldn't pick Orlandi? Hammond AND Crofts? Too negative in my opinion, looks like a team for damage limitation.
