I'd start Good Old Sussex By The Sea BEFORE the players come out like they used to. That's all you needed, you heard the opening bars of GOSBTS playing and you knew what was about to happen...battle! It was pavlovian: gosbts plays > players are about to come out of the tunnel > everyone is ready to ROAR the gladiators into the arena.
Now they announce the team coming first, wait for the players to come out and then play it. As the Donald would say, it's no good, folks. Trust me.
Honestly I like it pretty much the way it is - fanzone is fun for the kids and starts to build the atmosphere (and the music is fine for that), then the montage, then GOSBTS with words and the lowering of the volume works well and I enjoy Ring of Fire and judging by the amounts of people who are on their feet clapping and swirling their scarves, the majority do too. All part of the fun and home ritual now for me.
