Barber has said he is commited to getting transport up and running for future Boxing Day fixtures.

really, I wonder how?

Is he going to drive the trains himself? Or pay ERneSt a brown papare envelope for running a train himself

Tubes and buses run on Boxing Day, albeit a lesser service.

We're probably not the only club with public transport issues, but I'd say we're the only club that has to pay for it, seeing as customers wouldn't or didn't.

how do you mean? The cost is charged as part of our ST even if we dont use it.

Here, there and everywhere

Barber also confirmed, Albion will be working with the Football League to attempt to ensure that future Boxing Day fixtures can be staged at the Amex.

He added, “Our transport partners and their staff do a wonderful job for us on our regular match days but in this day and age, when people are increasingly out and about on Boxing Day, wanting to socialise, visit family and friends, shop in the sales or enjoy leisure activities, including watching football and other sports, we see the availability of public transport as being absolutely key.

“We will work with the League and transport companies to find a solution for future seasons, as Brighton & Hove Albion remain entirely committed to staging Boxing Day fixtures at the Amex in years to come.”

Yep.

Southampton at home (2 Jan) was on a Bank Holiday.

Indeed it was.

Don't recall any transport issues that day - presumably they got the trains and buses running. I hope to christ they manage to sort it for future bank holidays, because I am sick to TITS of losing afternoon games to poxy midweeks.

Going to the club shop for the massive Boxing Day sale, now the games not on it should cut down on the rush.

I like the suggestion of the dogs. Is it normally a lunchtime thing?

Looks like dog walk, telly, food, board game playing now.

Black Boxing Day? Is that like black history month we we all talk about slavery, reggae and Trevor Philips?

It's gone too far now.

No it's a morning thing. Usually 10:30 start. It used to be packed and advanced ticket only. Nowadays though.....

Martin Perry said that the cost of transport "ran well into seven figures [for the season]...", without giving a specific figure.

22,000 STHs x £30 levy = £660,000.

So I doubt that £30 levy covers half of the charge.

The car parking cost is included in the transport figure so don't forget to add the income from this into your sums.

They ran a 'Sunday service'.

January 2nd was only a Bank Holiday because the 1st was a Sunday. Boxing Day is a traditional FULL Bank Holiday i.e minimal services.

However in recent years B&H Buses have run services on selected routes Usually the 1, 5, 25 ,77? 49 and 46. Basically to suburbs and back. But at a premium flat fare.

The trains as we know, run a service from Brighton - Vic but not stopping at intermediate stations.

Encouraging transport services to run as near to normal on Boxing Day is dangerous. In a few years we could all be working it.

How's that going to work then? Are the Football League going to ORDER the trains to run on Boxing Day? ???

Hopefully in the near future the railway network will be dragged into the 21st century like every other fecking public service. Not holding my breath though.

Any better solutions to the fact we are being starved of the Albion on Boxing Day for the first time in the history of the world?

Funny how our fans can get to away games on a boxing day but not a home game are they all retarded
