Anyway, by going from Hassocks to Haywards Heath or Gatwick it meant you could go to Peterboro for £4.80-odd. What a bargain. And with 4,000 fans crammed into that covered stand and a late equaliser, it was a true baptism into the awayday club. The famous red away strip, snowbound pitch, orange ball, Steve Jacobs...great memories.

We had 6,000 there that day and it was the most scared I've ever been whilst on a terrace because the crush was unbelievable, and made ten times worse for each equaliser.

And we were one nil up at half time I think. And at the end, it pissed down with rain and the bloke on the tannoy went through all the second half goalscorers.

Whayt a bunch of twats they are. I long for the day we can do something like that back to them.

We were. It was Grand National day and Mark Hately was running like a thoroughbred at us that day. Plus they kept the Albion fans in for seven years after the final whistle.
