That's a tasty first away game - how old were you?

Loads of trouble - I can remember getting hot scalding tea thrown over me from the Spurs above us behind the goal.
Age 12. Spurs fans steamed in the back of our stand just before the end i think.

Brighton factually.....
Second division at Manchester City we lost 2-0 1983/84 season, I am pretty sure that result killed off any faint hope of a late promotion push by us to go straight back up.

Selhurst Park, Nov 1976, Palace v Brighton, FA CUP 1st Round. 1-1 Anyone else remember that one. :)

I got lost at the end. A policeman helped me find my Dad. Don't remember too much else apart from driving up the A23 in the car after school. And it being v.dark. And it being the most exciting thing ever.

West Ham - 78/79 season - goalless draw. The atmosphere around Upton Park after a match was an interesting experience for a 9 year old's first away game.

Portsmouth away, Christmas 1976. Lost 1-0. I think Fozzie was playing for Pompey that day if I remember right.

Notts County 1984.
won two one with a Hans Kraay last minute winner.
Alan Young was playing for them and came over to us at the end and shook all our hands and said that he had never wanted to leave the Albion.

My history teacher when I lived in Wigan went to that game. On the Monday after the game as I came into the classroom he took me to one side and shook my hand and thanked me as he went down to Nottingham to see his in laws and they insisted on taking him to the game and he hated them.

As Stat Father didn't take me to away games, I think mine might have been Hull in the FA Cup, the season we ALL went to Peterborough in the next round.

That Peterborough game in the next round was my first away game, remember the red scarves!

Gillingham FA Cup 1975, 1-0 win, missed the goal as I fell off my stool!

Went to Hereford away as well towards the end of the season and saw Peter Ward make his debut and score after 50 seconds, Dixie McNeill equalised when he punched the ball into the net late on.

What was your first league/cup match away from Goldstone, Withdean, Amex.

Today is that first for Stat Club Juniors.

3-2 Albion - mid '80's.

Today was my daughter's first away game too. She loved every minute of it.

My son's first away was Ipswich the season before last when we lost 3-1, but boy was that 1 by Vicente worth being there for.

Mine was Luton away in the late 70s when we drew 1-1 (I think). The one when Paul Clark had his leg broken.

were you sitting in the old wreck of a side stand?

No mate i was on the open terrace. i do recall about a dozen Brighton fans in the Old Stand, making lots of noise, i know a dozen doesn't seem many but i dont think they were supposed to be in there anyway. i take it you were one of them?

Little Miss Stat will be plain to see on the coverage, behind the goal playing the DS .

She loves all things Albion except the football!!
