What was wrong with our first (disallowed) goal?

Watched it on the FLS, certainly looks level.
Added the extra white line to show that he is at least least with the last defender, especially when you take into account the camera angle from the WSU, he's onside. No doubt.

(Yes it's on paint, christ knows how to do it otherwise) but the 'level line' clearly breaks through the nearest Wolves defender.

He looks off to me there...maybe I need a return to opticians.

Not the real one
I think cms was on, but even if he was off, it shouldn't have mattered, he wasn't receiving the ball, when he did it was from the wolves keeper, by which time the defenders were all playing him on, that was phase 2 after the save. You can stand in an off position all day as long as you don't recieve the ball off your own player. Either way, the goal should have stood.

By that picture he is just offside.

It's quite obvious the Lino guessed. His flag was so late too he Prob was ball watching the shot and suddenly saw cms well ahead of everyone so decided to put his flag up. The officials were poor today.

Although CMS is in an offside position when the original shot was taken, he is not causing an offence until he touches the ball, hence the late flag.

BTW, just offside

I don't know how he can put a line in, says it looks onside when it clearly shows it wasn't.

I can't believe how many people don't know or understand Law 11.

Looks just about offside to me. Have to credit the linesmen in general at this level with these close decisions; they tend to get far more right than they get wrong.

Doesn't matter anyway; they would've equalised with their next attack.

I noticed that after Bruno scored a few minutes later CMS didn't go over and join in the celebrations.

He was onside and the lino was piss poor and ball watching. In that pic above his leg is in the air cos he's running - not planted on the floor (which would make him just off).

Have you watched any football over the last few years? He was offside (arguably) when the shot came in so by being in that position he gained an advantage when he slotted the rebound in. Had the shot gone straight in then the goal would have stood because his offside position at that point didn't interfere with the keeper. I suspect the vast majority of fans would see the shot and the rebound all part of phase 1.

Watch it in normal time - it's onside.

Well he's level - so he's onside.
Also in the picture the ball has just been kicked, half a second before he's also behind the defender. Remember to take the camera angle into consideration, CMS is made to look further 'up' the pitch due to the angle; if you could put a side on camera in place, you'd see the 'offside line' would clearly break through a Wolves defender.

Please come and tell me that when I'm the referee for a Liverpool Academy match, (which includes some international players) next month.

I've watched it in normal time, slow-mo and frame-by-frame.

Offside

CMS.png

As you can see, this is a better picture, from the moment the ball is kicked (quarter / half a frame before the one posted previously) . CMS's left foot is the furthest part of his body forward and that is level with the nearest Wolves player AND the player on the farside.
This picture also takes into account the angle perception problem I posted above.

The bit you highlighted wasn't specifically for your benefit. It was for the people that couldn't understand the "gaining an advantage by being in that position" part and why the flag isn't raised when the original shot was taken.

BTW, when the shot was taken a fraction of a second earlier than the pic, CMS looked even more offside.
You can't see ANY part of CMS behind the line, whereas the feet of all the defenders were behind it, even more so if the pic was of the "shot-time". And CMS is the only player whose upper body is leaning towards the goal

Offside all day long.

Who painted the lines, Frank Spencer?

That picture is even worse.
