Away to Fulham under Hughton. A cold and snowy night towards the end of his tenure. We took an early 2 goal lead but never looked convincing. Second half we conceded 4.

West Ham away under Poyet. 5-0 by half time I seem to recall. Only time I left an away game early.

Everton at home last season. Can’t split these!
You seriously rate Everton last season worse than tonight ?

We could still have won that game with the amount of chances we had and actually battered them for large periods. Tonight was 10x worse.

Look at all the jellied eel twats, only with eyes for low budget Albion. Typical cntish Deadenders.
It was a bit odd as I am not the sort to give it back at away games. I was just doing my best to ignore them. Saying that I often bravely flick the Vs at the away end from the safety of my seat in WSU, especially if they have been a bit gobby.

The Bournemouth loss a couple of years ago saw me shelling out for a new pane of glass. Someone closely resembling me had come home after that game a bit tipsy and more than a little annoyed and had thrown their shoe through the window in a childish tantrum.

So probably that one. Ended up being an expensive game that one.

Incidentally also the game I made the decision to try and not let football results get me down.

Not just the results, Tottenham/Forest aside, some predictably slow PL football. Wolves were able to funnel all their players back to two banks of 4, as we telegraph passed the fkn obvious.
Wolves was a good example of where we missed naturally skilled wide players BUT we failed to use experienced players like Milner to our advantage

Another vote for the West Ham Poyet defeat. We were woeful that day and we were absolutely shocking tonight. Not even close to Villa away, Everton or West Ham this season where the result could easily have gone the other way. Tonight, every man was utter dogshit. But it happens, we've been totally spoiled in recent times so if we take the odd beating every now and again it will still be the best time to be an Albion fan. Chin up everyone.

Losing 1.4 at Withdean to Bristol City just before Mark McGhee took over. We were absolutely dreadful and I just remember thinking there was no hope for us with a really poor squad and no money or new ground in sight. After the Adams/Taylor/Zamora/return to Brighton era of highs, it just seemed such a low. I never leave early but I did that day.

I still maintain that McGhee getting promotion and then staying up with that squad was possibly the most impressive performance from any of our managers in my 35 years watching the Albion.

Probably the 0-0 vs Donny Rovers at Pissfilled. Or maybe the 0-4 against Darlo. Great days. Not.

Time everyone pulled up their knickers and made me a cup of tea.

West Ham 6-0
Huddersfield 7-1
Walsall 1-0
I was too young to remember being there really but I imagine the 5-0 v Palace wasn’t great.
I'm gonna give a shout-out for a 3-0 loss under Hughton at Chelsea when we were objectively shit.

Yeah, why not?

Both games saw Brighton go behind in seconds. 3-0 down at HT in both. Sure, we scored against Everton and made some chances but also conceded 5 to a very poor Everton side. An Everton side that scored just 29 other goals in 37 games that season. Losing at home in that fashion was terrible. in a match very important to our European push last season. The deflated feeling after that home defeat is worse than coming home from Luton today.

Can't say that was unexpected at the start of the 82/83 season

i had to suffer a 5-0 defeat at West Brom on a Wednesday then a 4-0 defeat at the Forest on the Saturday, so not a great week, and we followed that up with the 5-0 defeat at Luton in our next away game.

In fact that season I was at all 21 away league games to see 1 win (Swansea) , 6 draws and see us concede 46 goals, which all told wasn't too bad after conceding 19 in our first 5 away games
