He scored four on his debut against Newcastle for the Albion. He played 16 times and scored 9 goals. He then left for Frome town? What happened ?

We picked him up from part time football in Wales. His four against Newcastle were amazing, great finishing, and he scored in his next game. But at the time we had Small and Byrne, and when they were fit he was edged out. The shine of that first game wore off perhaps too quickly, and he was released pretty soon after.

As a former exile in Frome I must advise the club hosted an excellent car boot sale, and the old Raves from the Grave strip was the best non-albion shirt I have ever seen! Sadly can't find any pics on the web.....

It was a strange thing with Wade.

He was one of those players that did little else but score, Alan Gilliver was a similar 'camel' who had the scoring knack.

Strange when scoring is the name of the game that somehow it doesn't work out. I suppose it's a bit like the park football where there was always some kids who would be the goal hanger.

My mate is a recruitment consultant in the construction industry in Bristol. He met Bryan Wade on one site a couple of months ago. Great finisher but not much more to his game from what I remember

Two nil down at home to Newcastle, Bryan Wade comes on for his debut & scores 4. Probably the best Albion come back in my lifetime.

However, Bryan could never recapture even a glimmer of this form.
Probably the best 90 minutes by a striker for us ever....? Not that he was playing for 90 minutes.

The North Stand was mental that night.

He had a night where everything he touched turned to goal. His subsequent performances were more indicative of his actual ability which were decidedly average. Still very few if any Albion players in my lifetime can boast of a performance like that.

Wasn't he in tears after the Toon game or am I imagining it. If memory serves he scored against Wolves away in another cracking game just after when we had Codner? sent off

Very memorable night. Because he played a binder and scored four but we walked away discussing why he ain't that good. He just had the Midas touch that night. A surreal one night legend where everyone was excited for him coz he was over the moon.
