A pub conversation last night has got out of hand and needs to be settled - A simple question, what was the better overhead goal?

Jahanbakhsh v Chelsea in The Premier League:

Or: Pele v The Germans in Escape to Victory:

The pedantry police would like to point out the goal from Escape to Victory was scored by ‘Luis Fernandez’.

Jahanbakhsh didn't have a ball whipped in by Bobby Moore either - it's a difficult call.

Definitely Pele.

Like to see Ali do it with broken ribs

Ali will never be good enough to clean the boots of Pele, but he sure scored a better goal of the two.
PS Did Pele ever play in the PL, thought not, not good enough!

As good as AJ's was, it wasn't as good as the greatest ever overhead kick goal.

If Ali had hit the ball as straight as Pele did then the keeper would of saved it , so for technique alone Jahanbakhsh wins it , i doubt we will ever see a finer goal by a Brighton and Hove Albion player in our lifetimes .

The defending was worse for Pele's goal - the near defender jumped about 10 seconds early to try and clear with a header.

Deepest, darkest Sussex
But were the crowd in Escape to Victory allowed bottle tops?
