Somewhere over there...
Is there actually a rule on the ticket or in the programme saying,

"You may not stand up and sing cos it may cause displeasure to other fans" or something along those lines.

If i were told to sit down and sit up, I would tell them that there is no rule saying that I cant stand up and have a good time, I payed for the ticket and does not expect to be told what to do and to stop ruining my night out.

If they threatened to kick me out, I would say they have no right to and that if they did, they would have to get the police involved as I would NOT move from that spot and would just stay standing up and carry on singing!

CK There is a rule saying you can't stand up - as safeway has pointed out this comes direct from the FA and is a result of all seater stadiums. Has anyone actually been told not to sing or to shut up though?

But there is a rule saying no standing. It applies at every all-seater stadium in the country.

They'd have every right. On the back of your match ticket it says "This ticket is issued subject to conditions imposed by Brighton & Hove Albion F.C." One of those conditions is that you are not allowed to stand up during the game, and you can be ejected for breaking that rule.

Shite, but true.

sent this to the club.

Dear Sir/Madam

Having spoken to numerous disgruntled fans from last nights game it appears that the club have introduced a new policy of NO ATMOSPHERE at the Withdean stadium.
Stewards threatening loyal supporters with ejection for trying to start songs or get a bit of support going for the team, we all know they needed it.
Rumours are flying around that the council are threatening the club, with safety inspectors wanting to close sections of the ground if the fans don't sit down.
Would it be too much trouble for the club to provide a statement to the many of us who would love to cheer for the Albion once again without fear of ejection from over zealous stewards

Sorry to repeat myself but have stewards actually told people to shut up or stop singing?
If so then this is completely out of order.
If they have just told people to sit down then they are simply acting correctly as per FA rules.

The worst ones are over by the away fans, when clubs return tickets & we sit a couple of rows away.

Away fans are allowed to shout all the usual abuse, some of which you don't really want your kids hearing. (Do you take it up the a**e, etc.)

When you stand up to object to this, immediate orders to sit down by walkie talkie brandishing stewards follows.

I f***ing pity these people that get their only sense of power by donning the yellow jacket & talking to the home fans as if they're shit.
