Personally I don't give a monkeys about what shirt I wear to what game, or maybe no shirt (I mean I will cover my pasty flab in something - but not in a Brighton shirt sometimes - like when I'm too fat to fit any)- but my 11 year old burbled something unintelligible at me the other day in relation to this and I think he meant to ask - is there some sort of unwritten rule that someone gives a toss about - about what to put on. E.g. match the expected away kit when away - home shirt at home.

No, wear your own thing. I have shirts I decide are "lucky" and then try to stick with them for a bit. That's about it.

Not as far as I know, though I have noticed a steady decline in the variety of hats worn at Lewes FC games in my occasional visits. At least a dozen different types of hats on the terraces a decade ago, now it's beanie or flat cap and not much else. The trilby, fedora, pork pie, Panama, beret, military cap etc of years gone by are now a rarer sight. It being Lewes it may of course be a performance art metaphor for something yet to be revealed.

I remember that at Oldham, 2005? Leon Knight scored a pen, we debuted the all yellow shirt with just the black Seagull and Skint logo, no team badge? Yup, that was properly hot.

I often wear a t-shirt that looks a bit like the early 70s white and blue home kit but isn't.

There was a lot of BNP shit going on up there. Very weird atmosphere in the town. Posters everywhere. Just a general sense of a pretty bleak situation.

I vary between three shirts usually. Shirt either carried or worn depending on how hot it is and same shirt is worn home and away until we lose, then the next shirt comes back into favour.

my son, however, is now one of those stone island jumper, jeans and Adidas trainer wearing sheep.

It’s made me cold just thinking about that game. Also got a right soaking at Oldham too, autumn ‘84. The place to go if you are a weather watcher.
