Glass Case of EMOTION
I don't know why, but whenever I have a slight dilemma that I need to address or sort out, I 9 times out of 10 resort to asking the population of NSC and the wise minds in here about what to do before I screw things up royally....

Basically, I've been in a relationship with a girl (cue sarcastic congratulations...) from Liverpool for just over a month. I've known her as friends for about three years and we got together once her last relationship ended. As you can imagine with work and stuff, it's a long distance thing however, she has yet to tell her family that me and her are an item...

She went on holiday for 3 weeks the other day, and flies back in the first week of October. I've got some holiday time around that and I'm goina be knocking around so thought it would be nice (and possibly a little romantic) to be up at the airport when she lands and comes through baggage control to meet her....possibly with a bunch of flowers (although lets not go overboard !!)

I don't want to f*** it up though and seem over-the-top or rush her into telling her family, as she means a lot to me and f***ing anything up is not at the top of the agenda....

Open to the floor, any suggestions (particularly from the lady-folk-of-NSC is thankfully recieved !!) before I screw things up...

Ta Muchly !! x:)

Woh! That's quite a distance to travel, you must really like her.

I reckon GO. There's not enough of these outlandish gestures flying about anymore. Yeah, go on. Maybe buy her some choccies!

Awww, it'll be just like something out of "Love Actually", but with a miniature black monkey sex scene in the end.

My concern is you turn up at the airport unannounced and standing there are her parents, who don't know about you. Could work out well or be a bit awkward.

Which is what i'm worried about...I don't want it to go down like a lead balloon.

It obviously depends on the type of person she is, do you think she will consider this a romantic and sweet gesture or slightly full-on? It's only been a month, although you say you were friends for 3 years which means you do know what each other is like.

I would say to go as it's a sweet idea, the only thing is like you said, rushing into her telling her family. So in fact I've been no help at all..

what if she comes back from her holiday with a big turkish waiter who has impreganated her and she's keen to go back to turkey and live as a good muslim wife?

manchester; never go if there's a risk involved.

Personally, I don't think it really matters that it's a few hours drive back, the concern is the relationship.

Go. You old romantic you...

If she tells you to do one then she obviously isn't as in to you as you are to her anyway so best off knowing sooner rather than later.

If she has gone on her hols with her friends they will be well impressed which is good for you. You will then take on the mythical persona of her 'romantic wonderful boyfriend from down South'.

These are the people she will be out drinking with and reminding her of the fact she has a boyfriend when packs of seedy northern chaps are sniffing around so getting them onside is no bad thing.

Do it.
