Mine are wrapped in Peter awards 79/80 home kit, inside Jimmy Cases semi final shirt, all inside a cup final foam hand. I may as well ditch it all.

Do we collectively have enough to build a pair of RE twin towers somewhere at Falmer? In two Perspex cases maybe?

I suppose all the important info is digitised now, so bar the clubs own library ( if they have one) . . . . Is there any need to not recycle them?

I’ve got loads in the loft and stuck in various cupboards. These include Gulls Eye editions and various other fanzines. I can’t bring myself to part with them. I once took a few of the more interesting ones to work and left them around for people to read. They are a good reflection of what it was like to be a fan in the eighties and nineties.

I found some gulls eyes online. Very happy memories. Think I only have one or two copies, along with '97 stuff. And a few early 80's progs.

I had about 60 years worth of mainly homes but some aways. One NSCer has claimed 6 seasons’ worth, I have kept key matches (Southend, Wisbech, Doncaster etc), kept one from each season, and the rest (about 5 large boxes full) were posted into the recycling slots at Hove recycling. A tear in my eye after saving them for so many years but I have come to the conclusion that some things just aren’t worth keeping and a need to downsize, especially with the good work Hiney has done.

Brighton factually.....
I’ve kept all mine in a suitcase from the 80s & 90s I don’t really bother buying them when I go except for a few important games.
I take about 10 out at a time in leave them in the en-suite on a shelf for when I need peace and quiet, I rotate them every few months.

Should be able to leave them at the Amex for Junior seagulls to read up on our history ! Sadly I dont think many would be interested.

I think that's a great idea. You should contact the club. As a kid I loved old programmes.

The main reason I never buy a program now, is that I can't throw them away.

The internet has killed them, I remember avidly reading them cover to cover, these days I flick though them and don’t even take them home.

I've got boxes of old programmes sitting in the loft having collected them ever since my first game. This season is going to be the last that I buy one. Theyve become far to bulky to store these days. Theres a lot of unnecessary stuff in them, maybe the kids section could be taken out and offered for free at the programme stall for those that want it?

In days gone by the programmes were your only real link to statistics and seasons past. Now who scored the second goal from a 2nd round replay in 1972 can be found at the touch of a button. Days gone by if that came up, it might be a delve into the programme collection, and catch up in the pub with the answer a week later!

Once you started collecting programmes, you need to complete full seasons, and once you completed full seasons, you needed all your other seasons complete. Finding a missing programme in an away club shop in a box of old programmes was a punch in the air moment. That will be 20p mate. Yes!!!

The thing with your box of shite is, in time, it does become a nice snapshot of you, when you're no longer around to bore everybody senseless.

This thread caused me to pop up into the loft and select some 'greats' from my inherited box of shite.
I could plot my father's entire National Service 'campaign' just by arranging the contents chronologically.

Here's a few random of the randoms:-

This thread has given me the impetus for the final push on my inherited programs .... just two piles to take to recycling bank now

I did find my copy of We're On Our Way (A Brighton & Hove Independent publication) .... also on the pile unless anyone wants it

This one piqued my interest.

My workings out are thus:-

- 1954 (66 years ago)
- Pre season friendly.
- v Hearts Hibs combined team.
- Mint condition.

So I don't think it's that unreasonable to be thinking:-

- Feckin old
- Not many sold
- A rarity
- Fantastic

I'll put it on ebay and buy a Ferrari with the cash (ok so maybe that was a tad unreasonable)

I've even done a one click research on the game:-

http://www.hibshistoricaltrust.org.uk/historic-matches/the-edinburgh-select

Finally do a quick ebay search.

There's one already listed, similar condition, buy it now price...

...£14.95. :lolol:

In dealing with a death in the family, I've rediscovered my stash of old Albion programs. Mainly late Eighties and early Nineties. There's a few key matches from '83 too.

I just don't have the room to keep any beyond a couple that are special to me so wondering how best to move/sell them on. Any collectors on here? Albion museum?

Any help much appreciated.

Dont get rid.
One day you might need to know what Adrian Owers’ pre-match meal is.

Or you might want to see the program notes welcoming the big signing of Mark Farrington:ffsparr:

Yeah, billed as an upgrade on mike small.
Umm. Might dispute that
