Why stop all of the West Stand from getting to the P & R and telling us to go up into the coach park? All it meant that Millwall fans coming out of the south stand walked into the all the west stand supporters being held by a police cordon Crazy

This was the next test for the police, better but still lucky to get away without bigger problems.

Sent from Pippa Middleton's lingerie drawer.

Bloody inept.

If you want to segregate fans after the match, perhaps it would have been a better idea to keep the away end closed for five minutes until the West Stand fans had got to the Park and Ride section instead of simply kettling all the Millwall and Brighton supporters together in a big huddle, and preventing Brighton supporters from getting in the queue to get home.

Dickheads.

Do you think they lucky to get away with problems at the Leeds or Palace games ?

I thought on both occasions they got the policing spot on.

Same disaster as the Palace game. Millwall fans down the ramp, Brighton down the steps and then all merge at the bottom on the corner. Who's bright idea was this? Gives everyone a chance to pick each other out and then goes off at the bottom. God help us when Cardiff and Pompey come calling! Been lucky so far, but it wont last forever...

What disaster at the Palace game ?

Lots of mouthing off, lots of w*nkers signs - but nobody actually got hurt. Treat football fans like tribes they will act like them. What the club/police are trying to at the Amex is definitely the way forward.

Why can't away fans simply be kept in for 15 minutes, at these high risk games.

Get the bulk of home fans away first.

This is a successful policy at ManU-LFC and many other similar fixtures.

Does it take a stabbing or someone in a coma for Sx Police to learn the lesson?

All very well trying to make the Amex experience a friendly affair, but for say c. 4 fixtures a year, that will be proved to be naive in the long run.

Has there been a stabbing or the chance of someone in a coma ?

Sorry, from my experience trying to keep fans apart that can lead to as many problems as it solves. I thought the Palace game actually demonstrated something.

People throwing stones at the Palace game? Also 5 or 6 scraps by the train ramp that I saw. Maybe not a coma all the same but situations that could be easily avoided by keeping away fans in for 10 mins.

very poor policing , forcing 2300 millwall fans up 2 rows of steps , then getting arsey when people start pushing . Massive bottle neck . Keep em inside for 15 minutes job done everyones happy . Brighton police really do amaze me sometimes ...

Could have been but wasn't. Note the completely different approach to policing at the Palace home and away games. Effect ? probably the same.

Point is, there would probably been the same amount of trouble, if not more if you separate groups of pissed men into tribes. The police are attempting something different and for that I applaud them.

Tonight ? Wasn't there, but I'm probably more aware of the antics of Millwall fans than most. But - don't use the example of Palace because the trouble was minimal. Possibly the approach to Millwall fans needs to be different, possibly the police need to learn from tonight for next time Millwall visit... but please...

.. don't criticise them for not resorting treating football fans like animals by default. Anyone go to the Wimbledon game BEFORE the palace 5-0 defeat away. Not only were there a handful of Wimbledon fans at the game (at the height of the protest) - we were giving a police escort back to the station as a trial to the Palace game.

I'm sorry, something from not only another era, another country.

The decision to try and do something different has been one of the best things about the Amex generally and I wouldn't want them to change that because of over the top reactions to "trouble" that in reality was nothing when everybody got home safe and well.

Cant wait for PC Balkham's explanation of that one! It was an absolute farce. 8 year old kids getting pushed by the police and stopping all the nasty P&R lot from getting to the coaches!!

Genuine question then, for the Palace game do you think in respect to the way that the game panned out that the police got their tactics right in allowing everyone out at the same time?

The police had no idea how to handle that game, before during and after.

There was, yet most Millwall fans for the trains were using the normal ones, pointless really, policing was crap at the station too. Heard that 40 Millwall fans had been arrested after the game although i cant confirm that number.

Police were poor, telling Millwall they could go back to Brighton OR the direct train to London was a mistake as it just riled them when they had no idea what was best etc. Should have put them all on their special (correct phrase!) train. Also mouthy Millwall trying to start fights and OB did nothing.

Same old Millwall, always target kids and olds....
