I certainly wasn’t having a pop at him. One of my favourite albums, and I’ll probably get slated for it on here, is “Duke” It’s just very sad that he’s deteriorated so rapidly in recent years. I wasn’t aware of this until I saw the pictures today.

Don’t see why Duke is a cracking album.

Do you know him or read the tabloid bull that was written about him? Just curious.

No I don't know him.
However over the years I have read and also listened to his interviews and some of his quotes.
He undoubtedly has a talent but as I stated , as a person he ain't all that.

"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent"

Not sure his health is much down the booze.

He's had back surgery, hip replacements and lost feeling in one foot.

I'd imagine the years of drumming have knackered his body.

Never been a fan, but it's sad to se someone's mobility deteriate like that.

read his book - a very good read
years of drumming are underlying cause of all his health issues
his son is a bloody good drummer too - plays drums for all his concerts now

I didn't know to much drumming could be bad for you. Is it a kind of RSI thing?

He is 67 and has got older. That is the answer to the question. Happens to all of us

Well not really. Even for a 67 year old in the last few years he has been incredibly unlucky with his health.

He looks the same to me, except older

He can barely walk and has done concerts sitting in a chair.

No fan of him at all, but over the last few years that's more than age. He has terrible health issues.

So it makes the post in bad taste imo

Not really.

Anyone who places themselves in the public eye is open to comment, that's the point.

It's simply an observation of mine. I'm not interested in his music but interested in public reaction to these figures. Especially those who don't bother to hide behind PR and sometimes say what they think.

From what I'm read he's been unfairly labelled as a Tory loving anti tax exile. In reality he has never voted it appears.

Even if I disagree I'd rather watch an interview with him than the scripted prepared nonsense of say David Beckham or Paul McCartney.

May dig out his book. Not that will ever make me a fan of his music or Genesis.
