Tegenaria domestica, as opposed to eratigena atrica which has a hairy arse

Spongy has the latter

This was this evening's visitor just as Mrs Spongy was taking the 3year old to bed.

She walked in, turned the light on said something I can't repeat on here, turned around and said something also quite impolite to me with lots of other bad words about removing said Incy Wincy.


It was about 10mm diameter smaller than a pint glass so just grabbed it in my hand and threw it out the bathroom window.

Mrs Spongy also said it was time to close the ****ing windows as its starting to get chilly over night which is just a coincidence I'm sure.

Because it’s getting chilly, male spiders are coming indoors to find females spiders.

I once found two spiders in the bath, one a lot bigger than the other. I left them to it.
In the morning, the bigger one was still there, but the smaller one had gone, apart from his legs which were left neatly splayed out.

Sounds like me and Mrs ETM on our first date.

Being an Aussie, you wouldn't catch me even thinking about doing it that way. Glass receptacle of some description over the top and then cardboard slid under to evict is as far as I get. And even then, I'll never forget the day we did that with a spider when I was in my teens and the back half of the body appeared to disintegrate ... turned out this particular spider species the mummy spider would carry the baby spiders around on its back for a while and the babies all abandoned the good ship mummy at the first sign of trouble. Being tiny, containing them was impossible so the spray came out.
