And what was set up next door to the funeral directors in 1976?

The Body Shop.

Charming choice of name.

The funeral director's (Stringers) was in Kensington Gardens. When the Manager retired Anita Roddick sent him a huge hamper full of Body Shop goodies.

Gunns the florist is a lot smaller than it once was. Mum had a lot of dealings with them as she worked for the funeral directors. My wedding bouquet came from there too.

No mention yet of Immediate Ian's superb second hand mod clothing shop immediate clothing...a decade ago I bumped into Gaz from Supergrass who had moved from Oxford that day & wanted to seek out a few shops of that type, showed him 4 Inc Jump The Gun & ended up at Ians place where he bought a pair if dungarees that someone else told me he was sporting outside the Zap at 3am later that night

I remember being round at his flat one afternoon when he'd been out shopping for music. I don't think anyone had ever known someone buy so many records in one go.

My friend has a shop at 34 Sydney Street (has had for about 14 years) - the basement is now open as another part of the shop, but previously he used it as a rehearsal room because it still had the room-sized fridge intact. Obviously they took the bolt off the door to stop themselves being locked in.
