What PUDDING would you compare this season to ?

If I were to compare the Albions season to a pudding, I would say it was rather like a Tesco cheesecake. Fairly pleasant without being overly exciting, and we choked on the bisuity base around halfway through which spoiled things somewhat, but then recovered to enjoy the rest of it, only to ultimately fall slightly short of what could have been a full-on M&S chocolate gateaux experience - perhaps a few strawberries on top might just have made the difference. Overall though, a great improvement on last years Happy Shopper stale squashed raspberry sponge.

With the likes of Thomson, Murray, Forster, Elphick and Lynch we have the basis of a decent team in this division. With a few additions in the summer (a leftback, a creative midfielder, a winger and perhaps another back-up striker and keeper) I think next year, with some fresh ingredients, we could be looking at a sherry trifle or perhaps if Wilkins gets really creative, we could even get a lemon meringue pie with caramelised base and a lightly crisped whipped cream topping and a dusting of cocoa (although I appreciate I might be getting a little carried away there).

Spotted dick, although Wilkins doesn't have spots :controversial:

Most definately Christmas Pud. Extremely rich and tasty with lots of surprises but occasionally the nuts spoiled the experience

Plum duff. quite difficult to get through without a drink but ultimately satisfying.

I would say that it was like a first attempt at a home made Sponge cake - someone else had done the shopping for the ingredients which on the face of it looked ok to make a decent pudding - but half way through making it it was obvious that certain things were missing.

So a quick pop round to the corner shop as all the supermarkets were closed meant that some of the last minute additions looked right but actually tasted shite (O@Callaghan, McFaul) while a couple of gems were discovered that really added flavour - Murray.

Ultimately the sponge cake served up was actually pretty tasty - far better than it looked 3 hours before the family came round for dinner - but now, the cruddy ingredients have been binned, got a budget for Tesco for the next meal with confidence that we know exactly what things to keep for this Sponge cake attempt but even clearer on what needs to be added.

All in all - a reasonable sponge cake that tasted good - but possible a wee bit dry and the jam in the middle was slightly cheap.

This season expect a far more polished and sophisitcated number.

A lemon sorbet surely? Cleansed the palate after the disappointment of the previous course (last season) but whetted the appetite and left you wanting more.

Instead of which the waiter brings the bill and starts putting the chairs up on the tables.

Apple Crumble cooked in a 10 year olds home economics class.

Fairly traditional and enjoyable fair for the most part, but the yummy crumble part was woefully thin in some places.

Baked Alaska. Generally "all-white" (as Barrymore would say), but the middle was surprisingly cold.

Hmmmmmm! yep but with a nice vanilla ice cream as well.
bit stodgy to start but with the expectation of something a lot better at the end.
