For me it would be George Best...what makes him even more amazing is that he was DRUNK on many occasions, and STILL took the piss...legend!!

I know iv'e banged on about this before but i saw Best score a hat-trick at The Dell. He went off injured and the whole ground gave him a standing ovation...........he was pure genius. On that note the player that excites me today, who i think possibly could become the GREATEST player of all time, and i would love to see is .........Messi

I take it he was in the team at the ocasional match you saw when he was not injured, and he was so anonymous that you didn't notice he was on the pitch?

OK, gotta admit, only made that up for, hopefully, comic effect.

Did see him warm-up a couple of times. He invariably suffered a knock and never quite made it to kick-off.

If memory serves, he used to get life-threatening paper cuts signing pre-match autographs.

For me I have various players for difering reasons.

Pele and maradonna - pele especially so. I know this sounds mad but I suppose due to it not being a mainstream tv age, Ive never seen footage of pele which convinced me that he really was brilliant. I would love to see him play and be proved wrong.

Laurent Robert - to me the definition of flair. Shit for 2 months and then scores thunderbolts 2 matches in a row.

Puskas, - again like pele, I want to see what he was like.

Batistuta and ronaldo - the 2 best goalscorers in my youth. At their peaks they were just silly.

Beckham - might seem a weird one but I would love to be there, behind the ball when he pings a nice 60 yard diagonal pass. Must be one of the greatest sights in Footy.

BERGKAMP all day long. Saw Roland at the Horsham friendly. Not quite the same somehow...

for me it will have to be Peter Ward, Bobby Moore, and Maradona, I would have loved to been at the 1970 World Cup game between England & Brazil, the best game Bobby Moore had for us and the 1986 game between England & Argentina, but all before my time
