I loved the qoute: "When Celtic approached him, he very kindly said that Tony Adams was the man they needed to go and get," said Adams.

So that'll be Tony Adams talking about himself - but in the THIRD PERSON!

I hope Celtic give him the gig. It'll be hilarious.

Brighton factually.....
He has been a complete failure at everything in his life apart from kicking the crap out of proper footballers. He's a complete loser. He depresses people. When he starts speaking people start crying and jumping off cliffs. Decent managers make a quick assessment and get results. Slade turned us from utter no hopers into an outfit that got results and got out of trouble. Look at the Premier League. Hiddink, Mourinho - even Harry or Hodgson - they get results, they manage people, they improve things. This guy is a prize loser. He should stick to the bottle - it's all he's good at.

I'd love it if he got the job at Celtic and completley f***ed them up, absolutely love it.

Celtic unsurprisingly distancing themselves from this!

Unlike some of the other posters on this thread, I admire Adams for turning his life around but his two spells as a manager both prove he is not cut out for the job. Defensive coach would be better for him.

Jansen refutes Adams' Celtic link
Tony Adams
Adams won only two of 16 Premier League games with Portsmouth

Former Celtic boss Wim Jansen has denied ever recommending Tony Adams for the manager's post at Parkhead.

Adams claimed he was in the frame, should Jansen return to Celtic in the role of technical director.

However, Jansen said: "Sure, I worked with Tony in Holland when he was coaching there and I know him well. We have a good relationship.

"But it's a little while since we have been in contact. And I have never suggested anything about Celtic."

A club source was quick to rubbish the assertion made by Adams, who said on Tuesday: "When Celtic approached Wim he very kindly said that Tony Adams was the man they needed to go and get.

"I'm very interested. I do love winning things, so it does appeal but as of yet, no phone calls."

Adams has been out of the game since being sacked by Portsmouth in February, having won just four of 22 games in charge.

Celtic is an unbelievable club, you have a 50% chance of winning something up there

Tony Adams

Prior to that, the former Arsenal and England captain was number two to Harry Redknapp at Pompey, after an ill-fated spell in charge of Wycombe and coaching jobs in the Netherlands with Utrecht and Feyenoord.

It was in the latter role that he worked with Jansen, who was technical advisor to the club at the time, and Adams envisages the two working together in a European-style management structure at Celtic.

"I really appreciate and I'm really thankful that there are people in the game who are batting for me and putting me up for the jobs," said Adams.

"By saying manager, it is kind of a head coach's position really because once you have a technical director like you have in Europe, they help you with recruitment.

"As long as you have the final say of who comes in and out, these people are your help in the boardroom.

"I never had that at Portsmouth. It works for me and Celtic is an unbelievable club, you have a 50% chance of winning something up there."

Jansen was head coach of Celtic during the 1998/99 season, but despite leading them to the Scottish Premier League title - their first in 10 years - and winning the League Cup, he left at the end of the season due to a clash with general manager Jock Brown.

If Tony Adams gets the job I will be walking to Parkhead in protest

Celtic have been without a manager since Gordon Strachan resigned on 25 May, just one day after surrendering the league title to Rangers.

On Monday, Swansea claimed they had made an official approach for boss Roberto Martinez.

Croatia coach Slaven Bilic has expressed his interest in the vacancy, while West Brom's Tony Mowbray and Burnley's Owen Coyle are also thought to be candidates but Everton boss David Moyes has ruled himself out of the running.

Adams is a very strange fellow and clearly not cut out to be a manager at any level, and certainly not at a high profile club like Celtic where he will be under enormous media pressure.

This is my favouite quote from him, just after landing the managers job at Portsmouth.

"'I don't actually like people, I'm a loner and if I had my way I'd just walk my dogs every day, never talk to anyone and then die."

Can't understand why his players didn't respond to this inspiring speech.

Think you need to read the whole article or listen to the interview. The 'he' that Adams is referring to is not himself but Wim Jansen.

Not sure how many of you who have commented heard the interview with him on the radio. Not sure whether Jansen is being totally honest about his comments but Adams obviously genuinely thought he had mentioned his name and not sure why he would make it up. It was clear from his tone that he thought it was all a bit tongue in cheek and that gave the impression he was not expecting any phone call anyway.

All those that are knocking him for stopping 'proper footballers' should ask yourself whether you would like to see a player of his ability marshalling our defence? It can't be denied he was a great captain for Arsenal and gets my respect for the fact he came back from drink problems a better person.

Having said that, he would be a crap choice as manager for Celtic but then who gives a shit about clubs north of the border.

Liam Brady and John Barnes, two massive mistakes by Celtic, they'd have to be brain dead to make the same mistake again.
