I notice a lot of people dislike Worthing! Spare a thought for me, I have to work here!

Being a commuter, I get the train from Brighton to Worthing every day and most of that particular line is full of crap places...

Portslade - Fishersgate - Southwick - Shoreham - Lancing - Worthing :shootself:

have to work there too....depressing as hell place.....we lift share and have a space....

After living in Brighton for 13 years I moved to Lewes and it took a bit of getting used to. In fact, most people I know here lived in Brighton for a few years. I love Lewes now. True, some people are totally up their own arses, but it's a beautiful town. Great for just pottering around in, but crap for shopping. The football team used to be quite good. Superb beer. No nightlife though.

I seem to hate all the places I've worked in. Crawley is horrible, and I have an irrational hatred for Ringmer, the most pointless "village" I know!

Hastings, Hailsham & Peacehaven the world could quite happily function without these blemishes on society. Honourable mentions to Worthing and Newhaven also.

Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath - full of complete nonces and wannabe Brightonians who come to Brighton and large it up because of their inferiority complex.

Hate the places and the people there.

Rye and Battle are right up there with Lewes for the - Up Their Own Arses - award.

Methinks Brighton is a contender for that award. Hate to mention it, but a significant proportion of its residents are insufferably smug. As the Crap Towns book said, Brighton does seem to think it's Barcelona...

Sussex, in my opinion, is pretty shit beyond Brighton and Hove. There certainly isn't another town I'd want to live in. Hastings, Crawley, Worthing - HOLES. Chichester and Haywards Heath are ok, but not exactly exciting. If it weren't for Brighton, we'd be living in one of the worst counties around.

What a load of baloney.

The part of Sussex I hate most is BRIGHTON and f***ing Hove.

Other than the albion it is so far up its own arse it is untrue.

A town which conveniently hides its deprived areas in sink estates on the outskirts with a city centre over-run by students who never moved back home after uni and trendy or green types who moved to Brighton ten years after it was actually cool because The Guardian told them to.

No, its f***ing stupid PR people do.

The rest of us just mellow out in the groove in our sandal-hugging, cappacino-wearing, tree-encouraging, eco houses while reading Pravda.

I actually think Hastings is heading to a similar position as Brighton say, ten years ago, where a lot of artists, musicians etc are moving to the area and it is becoming quite - and I hate to use the word - trendy and there is certainly a buzz about certain areas of St Leonards and Hastings Old Town.

At the moment it is still fairly low key so not yet been flooded with too many of the Guardianista. I do fear for it though.

However, it will never get as bad as Brighton simply because it does not have the university to attract student types who then simply never leave and are still behaving like wacky students ten years after graduation.

Hastings. (Richie, there is no buzz about Hastings, its depressing, parts of the town are as scruffy as Wolverhampton)
Sidley. (Shithole satellite town to Hastings - so many chavs and probably knife crime)
Lewes.

I'm surpised it took someone 20 odd posts to mention it.

Grim little hellhole with sod all to do.

I actually like most of Mid Sussex including Burgess Hill & Haywards Heath. Strange really you'd think that after living and working there for over three years I'd hate those places. But now I'm no longer in the "heart" of Sussex, I feel slightly empty

Reminds me of the time a few years ago when some chavs had spray painted over the red heart and replaced it with a black hole.

Yes, I have - and it's a shithole.

TO be honest though, I imagine most people here are basing their opinions on generalisations, becaue if you don't like somewhere, you don't go back!

Also a pretty grim place. Whenever I go there it's full of chavs and boy racers. Only good thing about the place is the cinema and the triangle. Rest of it is cack.
