Supports brighton.

Someone without a form of mania.

Someone who is comfortable with who they are.

Someone who accepts everybody for what they are.

But that's just my opinion.

More to the point, what possessed you to start a thread like that on NSC? I know there are some 'out there' threads posted on here, but Jesus, you might as well have asked "What's the meaning of life?"

Worthing
I always assumed I was normal - steady job, married with two children and a dog. That was until last saturday..........since then I cannot stop thinking about a certain spaniard. My job takes me out and about around Brighton and Hove. I have spent this whole week hoping I might bump into the spaniard - I have even practiced a simple phrase in spanish to show my gratitude and appreciation. Yesterday I thought I spotted him in Hove Park and walked quickly (well actually jogged) up to the unsuspecting bloke only to realise it wasn't him - couldn't hide the disappointment on my face. The look of confusion and I think possible slight unease on his face made me think what is happeing to me........................I am no longer normal?

I doubt I would be functional if I wasn't manic about something.

I learnt Spanish, not just because I'm in love with Gus's Spanish revolution - I moved over to Spain almost 4 years ago (btw NSC is great for feeling in touch with England and other insane Albion supporting folk and so on ) and it's interesting to see different interpretations of the word 'normal.

I think the words ' to be normal' are viewed in a positive way (in general by a lot of people in Britain, obviously not by all), whereas in Spanish the same word exists, but has more negative connotations of 'mediocrity', or 'nothing special'.

From the English use of the word, perhaps it shows that there is a strong tendency for people for people to just want to fit in, rather than to excel or be 'extraordinary'. I'm not saying Spanish people are necessarily different in this respect, it's probably more just a word thing than a variance in human nature.

Is this desire to 'fit in' universal? Do you agree that it is perhaps more prevalent in many English speaking cultures, than others? Do people in Britain tend to give people who are different a harder time than in other places. Probably not, I think the same can happen anywhere, and people in Britain can often be more accepting. I've answered my own question, so no need to reply.

Just had clarification of the definition from Bozza :moo:

"Have you tried to undermine NSC and the thousands of contented users for at least 10 years now? If not, you're probably normal - well done"

That is normal.
