I dont really know much about wine other than I prefer red, and if I drink too much my lips go black and I have a stonking hangover.....BUT I have been reading the Guardian wine supplements this weekend so maybe in a few days I'll be able to answer your question.

anyhoo. depends what you like.
as a general rule of thumb, if you like white then buy a northern hemisphere wine.
if reds ya fancy (red is a MANS wine) then southern hemisphere.
south african is good but a nice australian shiraz is the absolute BOLLOCKS
