[TV] What is up with the host production from the Brasil

Absolutely hideous production by HBS at the World Cup... not replaying enough of the play and when they do its super slow motion footage of players shouting of crowd shots, using goal line technology to show a goal when the ball has hit the back netting, poor camera grading and drifting colours, poor sound from the stadiums not picking up enough stadium fx's (must be scared a vuvusala (or however you spell that!)...

Even the BBC commentators are getting frustrated but it...

At least Van Persie goal was sheer quality!!!!

Likewise. Spain vs. Holland in the World Cup finals on a Friday night and empty seats all over the place. It's poor. Host the World Cup in Europe every four years and end this shambles.

That is really annoying me. Though, Sky did it last season. There was, I think, 2 incidents in which goal line technology was actually important, yet they tried to use it at least once every weekend, for incidents that were clearly either a goal and everyone knew it, or it didn't come close to crossing the line and no one claimed otherwise.

Agreed... They are just not used to the World Series of Socher are they ;-) I actually spent some time (well 2 months) in 2010 working on the production at the World Cup, I don't remember the coverage being as sketchy then but I guess they have some new toys to play with this time on the coverage.. They have a whole multitude of nationalities working on the host broadcast but they do have four years to get used to things between tournaments, I hate to say it but they really could do with taking a leaf out of Sky's book, they do know how to cover a match effectively

Somehow Michel Platini has become the devil incarnate for being against goal line technology. Not for me. After watching the Collinni masterclass on Sky TV I am a convert along with Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher for the 5th official on the goal line. He gives much more assistance to the ref than a very expensive system that only tells us the ball has crossed the line.
The system is 30,000 plus pounds to install and at least 7,000 pounds PER Game to run. It was used 3 times last season only one of them was controversial.
The Premiership is the only league that is awash with money. That is the real reason that Platini is against it's implementation. You never get the truth in the English press. Platini is more than happy for us to have it he just doesn't want it imposed on the rest of Europe. Seems fair enough to me.
