I've had this thing in since I found it in some abandoned house 15 years ago and I've brought it with me to maybe 12 different student rooms and apartments.

But I've always struggled with one thing: I don't know what the hell it is. Anyone got a clue?

Yeah nothing good yet...

However, did post the picture in a Facebook group as well and getting a shitload of comments... I think someone will come and deliver the truth.

Ok it seems it is some kind of "mailbox" for a pneumatic tube system. At least one of the Facebook people seem to think that and he's not taking "maybe" for an answer.
